The Ministry of Children and Family Services funds programs and services to support vulnerable children, youth, families, and individuals to live safely and succeed in Alberta. This includes providing services and resources to protect children and youth from abuse and neglect and effectively address harm that has placed them in need of intervention. Mentoring and support services are available to youth transitioning into healthy, productive adults. The ministry also invests in community-based groups that support prevention and early intervention services such as Family Resource Networks, youth emergency shelters as well as programs that raise awareness and help respond to family violence, sexual violence, and abuse.

Role Responsibilities
Are you a transformational leader with a passion for strengthening children, youth, families, and communities? Children and Family Services – North Region is seeking an experienced Manager, Child Intervention to lead dedicated teams delivering critical intervention services across Northern Alberta.
Reporting to the Director, Child Intervention, in this role, you will provide strategic and operational leadership, support excellence in frontline practice, and help create lasting, positive outcomes for children and families while working in partnership with Indigenous communities, service providers, and community stakeholders.

Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Provide strategic leadership to multidisciplinary Child Intervention teams by coaching, mentoring, and supporting staff to deliver high-quality, client-centered services while fostering employee engagement, wellness, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Lead the delivery of Child Intervention services by exercising delegated authority under the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act, ensuring programs, practices, and decisions comply with legislation, provincial standards, ministry policies, and regional priorities.
- Champion continuous improvement and organizational change by implementing ministry and regional initiatives, applying systems thinking to enhance service delivery, improve practice outcomes, and strengthen supports for children, youth, families, and communities.
- Build and sustain collaborative partnerships with Indigenous communities, community agencies, service providers, and other stakeholders to deliver culturally responsive, relationship-based services that integrate Indigenous ways of knowing alongside Western practices and promote diversity, inclusion, and anti-oppressive practice.
- Provide strategic oversight of program operations by monitoring service quality, managing complex and emerging issues, ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards, and aligning operational planning and resource allocation with regional and ministry objectives.
- Lead people and resource management by overseeing recruitment, performance management, staff development, succession planning, budgeting, forecasting, and the effective stewardship of financial and operational resources.
- Promote healthy families and community well-being by leading the shift from a child protection-focused approach to one that emphasizes prevention, family preservation, collaboration, and sustainable outcomes for children, youth, and families.
Within an established scope of responsibility, success in this position is measured through achievement of organizational and business objectives in the core areas of Human Regions, Finance, Service Outcomes, Program and Quality Assurance, Continuous Improvement and regional outcomes.

Qualifications
Preferred education is a Bachelor of Social Work with four (4) years of related experience including supervisory in a child protection environment.
The following equivalencies maybe considered:
- Master of Social Work and three (3) years of experience; OR
- Related university degree with four (4) years of related experience; OR
- Related diploma plus six (6) years of related experience.
Preference will be given to those who have experience in:
- Child protection responsible for providing a full range of child protection duties delegated under a provincial or equivalent child welfare legislation.
- Safety Phase and Intake Workflow.
- Leading and managing a diverse team that does complex work.
- Managing systems and processes including performance management, budgeting, and forecasting processes, human resources.
- Extensive experience working with Indigenous and diverse communities.
- Developing, evaluating, implementing policy initiatives, programs, and services.
- Demonstrated capacity to build effective partnerships with internal and external customers, clients, staff, and stakeholders essential to this position.
- Strong planning, analytical, issues management and consultative skills are required.

Notes
We are currently recruiting 1 Permanent and 1 Temporary *(travelling) position in Grande Prairie.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week. (The role may require additional hours beyond the regular workday, including weekends, on-call duties, and travel as necessary.)
Location: Grand Prairie, Alberta
Perks of living in Grande Prairie:
- Retention Allowance - annual retention bonus of $6,000 ($3000.00 paid out in March and $3000.00 paid out in September) for positions between the 55th and 57th Parallel.
Preference would be for the successful candidate to reside in the North Region. Relocation support can be requested however, it will be subject to operational requirements, budget approvals, area of relocation etc. The successful candidate will be required to frequently travel to the designated office location they will be supporting as part of their role responsibilities.
Travel Requirement: The temporary position requires 50% onsite travel to Grande Prairie based on operational needs. The successful candidate must be able and willing to travel as required. Travel arrangements, including transportation and accommodation, will be coordinated as applicable, and eligible travel and subsistence expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with organizational travel and expense policies.

- This role requires that you have a valid Class 5 Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.
