The Digital Design and Delivery (DDD) division within the Ministry of Technology and Innovation (TI) leads the development of the next generation of digital public services for the GoA. DDD partners with other departments to deliver products, platforms and services that are better, faster and easier, through modern user-centered agile processes. DDD offers potential candidates a unique opportunity to work on meaningful challenges that transform government and positively impact Albertans.

The Platforms Branch helps Government of Alberta product teams deliver digital products and services more effectively by providing shared platform capabilities, reusable components, and common data services. Within that environment, the Full Stack Developer is a senior individual contributor on a matrix platform team responsible for developing, enhancing, maintaining, and supporting front-end and back-end platform services used by ministries across government.

Role Responsibilities

The Platform branch is looking for two (2) Senior Full Stack Developers (FSD). These positions report to the Delivery Manager.

Senior FSD provides technical advice on platform and software development, supports transition to cloud-based platforms, and is expected to use AI tools, agentic workflows, and process automation responsibly to improve analysis, delivery speed, support, and service quality while maintaining human judgment and accountability.

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Lead platform development by translating product requirements into scalable, secure front- and back-end solutions across GoA services.
  • Design, build, enhance, and maintain front-end and back-end platform services using modern software development practices.
  • Analyze business and platform requirements and translate them into scalable, reliable, and secure technical solutions.
  • Own delivery of enhancements, defect resolution, and ongoing maintenance across the full development lifecycle.
  • Provide production support, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure platform stability and performance.
  • Drive modernization by advancing cloud adoption, reducing technical debt, retiring legacy components, and enabling reusable patterns and services.
  • Apply AI-enabled tools and automation to accelerate delivery and improve quality, while validating outputs and safeguarding sensitive information.
  • Contribute to platform standards, architecture, and cross-team collaboration, while advising leadership and supporting branch priorities, governance, and reporting.
  • Collaborate effectively with product teams, architects, designers, researchers, vendors, and business stakeholders to deliver client-focused solutions.

  • Experience working with cloud technologies, modern platform services, and software architecture principles.
  • Ability to understand user needs, navigate constraints, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong troubleshooting, judgment, change management, teamwork, and delivery skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and advise non-technical decision-makers.
  • Understanding of GoA services and client needs, with AI and automation fluency (including generative/agentic tools, prompt/workflow design, output evaluation, and risk management).

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • A university degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Business, Commerce, or Arts), supplemented by four (4) years of progressively responsible related experience.
  • Four (4) years of experience in digital development and delivery approaches, including Agile, human-centered design, and continuous delivery.
  • Experience leading project teams and enterprise initiatives, including resource and contract management.
  • Experience developing and maintaining applications/services using .NET, C#, JavaScript, React, SQL, and modern software development best practices.
  • Experience with software architecture, design patterns, and application of computing science principles in platform development.
  • Experience with database technologies, including relational and alternative database models.
  • Experience communicating technical information to non-technical audiences and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

 

Equivalencies:

  • A related master’s degree and a minimum of three (3) years of related experience; or
  • A related two-year diploma and a minimum of six (6) years of related experience; or
  • A related one-year certificate and a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience.

 

Assets:

  • Experience with financial management, access management, and/or mobile app development.
  • Understanding and working within given constraints (including but not limited to technology, policy, regulatory, financial, legal, ethical, social, user constraints).
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-resolution skills.Experience with AI-assisted development tools, CI/CD, automation, and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with cloud platform development and modernization of legacy solutions

Hours of Work: 7.25 hours daily / 36.25 weekly – Monday to Friday
