Alberta Infrastructure is responsible for delivering about one quarter of the Alberta government’s Capital Plan, which addresses the provincial infrastructure needs of Alberta’s population that support key social programs and services and economic development.
The Ministry designs, builds, manages, and maintains government-owned and operated facilities, and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that school and hospital infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta’s population. Infrastructure also provides accommodation services and manages a large portfolio of owned and leased facilities while maintaining fiscal accountability and optimizing value for Albertans.

Role Responsibilities
The Governance Coordinator supports the monitoring and review of capital programs and documentation and the application of standards and guidelines as they pertain to the delivery of approved projects, and ensures all practices are in alignment with capital program manuals to safeguard consistency and adherence to policy. The Governance Coordinator will be an active member of and assist with Secretariat responsibilities for several committees, along with any other relevant working groups as required.
The Governance Coordinator works with various internal and external stakeholders to review and assess current related practices within the capital programs and project delivery teams. This role will support the continuous improvement framework, implementing improvement initiatives and coordinating updates. The Governance Coordinator will communicate findings and provide recommendations to the Manager and various capital program steering committees. In addition, the Governance Coordinator will provide input for continual improvements to the various related guidelines and policies within the capital program manuals.
The Governance Coordinator may participate in a variety of additional activities when required such as site visits and facility inventory updates.
The primary responsibilities for the Governance Coordinator include, but are not limited to:
- Organizing and cross-ministry meetings, including producing and maintaining meeting materials (agendas, minutes, etc.)
- Preparing briefings, action request responses and recommendations on program issues.
- Interpreting, communicating and assessing stakeholder compliance with relevant Government and department policies, regulations, standards, processes, initiatives, and expectations.
- Initiating and preparing correspondence, reports, and support briefing development to clarify issues to obtain desired outcomes.
- Consulting with branch Directors and Executive Directors on best practices to achieve goals and strategies recommended for implementation through the business plan.
- Developing and implementing follow-up strategies to assess the ongoing achievement of capital programs.

- Strong software skills and systems tools experience to carry out responsibilities (i.e. Microsoft Office {Excel, Word, Outlook} SharePoint, etc.);

Qualifications
Minimum recruitment standards outline the minimum education and experience required for appointment to a job classification.
Required:
- A University degree in business administration, public administration, finance, engineering, economics, project management, data analytics, or a related field.
- Plus 2 years progressively responsible related experience.
- Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.
Assets:
- Experience in capital planning, capital and/or maintenance project delivery of facilities.
- Thorough knowledge of facility capital planning, project delivery and maintenance planning processes and activities.

This position is a Permanent, full-time role with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday (8:15 am – 4:30 pm).
Location: Edmonton AB.
