As the Ministry of Forestry and Parks we are responsible for fostering Alberta’s environmentally responsible forest management practices, including management of wildfires. We preserve our provincial parks for the recreation and enjoyment of Albertans. As well as enabling access to public lands for recreational and commercial purposes while prioritizing conservation. Forestry and Parks also manages public lands and balances sustainable rangelands and grazing leases for Alberta producers.

Role Responsibilities
Reporting within a regional operations framework, this role is responsible for the coordination and delivery of manpower administration and administrative services across a diverse portfolio. You will oversee staffing processes, payroll coordination, financial reporting, and records management while leading a team of administrative professionals. This role directly supports operational and program success by ensuring compliance with policies, accuracy in financial and HR processes, and efficient delivery of front-line administrative services. With a high degree of independence, this position offers a unique opportunity to influence operational outcomes and drive continuous improvement.
Your key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinating regional manpower administration in alignment with HR policies, collective agreements, and corporate standards.
- Participating in recruitment processes, including supporting selection panels and recommending salary ranges.
- Preparing and tracking staffing requests and ensuring completion of employment documentation.
- Processing payroll transactions accurately and within required timelines across salary, wage, and emergency staff.
- Reconciling leave, overtime, benefits, and payroll data within financial systems and initiating required adjustments.
- Preparing year-end accruals and generating quarterly and ad hoc financial and statistical reports.
- Providing interpretation of HR policies, agreements, and procedures to staff and stakeholders.
- Supporting financial forecasting and budget preparation related to manpower expenditures.
- Ensuring effective records management practices and compliance with FOIP and departmental standards.
- Delivering administrative support for revenue collection, client service, and operational programs.
- Supporting operational systems and tools used across the division (e.g., financial, licensing, and information systems).
- Participating in incident command system (ICS) roles to provide HR and finance support during emergency operations.
- Supervising, coaching, and mentoring administrative staff across multiple locations.
- Monitoring team workload, setting priorities, and ensuring performance standards are met.
- Ensuring staff are trained, cross-trained, and aligned with operational and safety requirements.
- Acting as a key point of contact for program areas to align administrative support with operational needs.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma and four years of related experience.
Equivalency: Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of:
- one year of experience for one year of education or
- one year of education for one year of experience.
Requirements:
- Valid class 5 Drivers License or equivalent.
- Leadership and supervisory experience.
Assets:
- Demonstrated time-management and organizational skills for coordinating and managing tasks and action requests across multiple teams.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for data review and report compilation.

Notes
This position is a permanent, full-time role with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25 hours per week, 7.25 hours a day, Monday to Friday. Minimum travel is required.
