Provincial Parks are essential to the quality of life that Albertans enjoy. They conserve our natural landscapes and wildlife habitat and offer a broad range of nature-based outdoor recreational opportunities. Alberta’s parks inspire people to discover, value, protect, and enjoy the natural world and the benefits it provides for current and future generations.

Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park is a unique landscape that contrasts the surrounding prairie landscapes, making it an exciting destination for campers and day users alike and overlaps the Alberta and Saskatchewan borders. The Cypress Hills District is located 65km South of Medicine Hat and covers approximately 200 sq km of provincial park. The district includes Red Rock Coulee, Michelle Reservoir. The focal point is the Elkwater Townsite with 300 cottages, 10 campgrounds, 5 group camps and front and backcountry comfort camping.

Writing-on-Stone/ Aisinai’pi was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019.  This unique site in the Canadian Badlands protects a vast collection of ancient pictographs and petroglyphs created by Blackfoot and other First Nations groups. The awe-inspiring badlands setting is a rugged, yet fragile location that is home to numerous species at risk. Aisinai’pi promotes a living culture landscape and works to provide authentic stories and interpretation to visitors from around the world.
