Role
If you enjoy working outside and are committed to caring for Alberta Park’s facilities and campgrounds, come join our Maintenance Service Team. Alberta Parks Dinosaur District located in Southern Alberta in the Brooks Region is looking for highly motivated, well-organized, responsible maintenance support persons for the operating season.
Responsibilities Include:
As part of the Maintenance team, you strive to maintain Alberta Parks’ high standards to ensure quality customer service and safety is provided at all times. Specific responsibilities include:
- Day-to-day grounds maintenance; including mowing, trimming, fertilizing, tree trimming, trail maintenance, camp site upkeep and road maintenance
- Maintenance of all park buildings, facilities, fleet vehicles and equipment; including signs, campsites and amenities
- Delivery and stocking of firewood
- Collection and disposal of garbage & recycling
- Holding tank monitoring and extraction support
- Regular inspections and upkeep of fleet vehicles and equipment
- Upkeep and inspection of work spaces
Qualifications
Education / Experience:
- Some high school education
Additional Requirements:
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
- Recognized current Standard First Aid Certificate and WHMIS certificate
Assets:
- Preference for custodial or cleaning experience but will train
- Carpentry, plumbing, irrigation and/or electrical experience.
- Computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office
- Chainsaw certification
- Good working knowledge in the operation, maintenance and safety of small equipment, hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to follow OH&S procedures, protocols, and attending all safety meetings.
- Must have good physical stamina; capable of performing demanding physical tasks and lifting up to 25 kg
To be successful in this role, you also need excellent communication and organizational, teamwork skills. You must be willing to show initiative to work independently or work in a team.

Salary
Base on a 40 hour work week, $19.84 - $23.86 per hour.
Shift premiums for evenings and weekend include:
- $3.25 per hour for weekends and holidays
- $2.75 per hour for evenings
Wage employees receive 11.2% in addition to regular wage earnings in lieu of benefits and vacation leave.
- 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
- 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay
Notes
Terms of Employment:
- Fulfill seasonal contract to start in early April, May, June until September or October, dependent on operational needs
- Based on a work week of up to 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day
- Evening and weekend work will be required; premium is paid for these shifts
- Adherence to Alberta Parks Uniform Policy
- Positions requires outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions, including working in the extreme heat on hot summer days
- Shared rental accommodation may be available
Additional Notes:
- Training sessions at the beginning of employment are mandatory
- Those selected for an interview will need to supply three references, preferably work related
