Role Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled professional to oversee the review, approval, operations, compliance, and monitoring aspects of forest management. This role involves guiding forest management staff, engaging with various stakeholders, as well as ensuring adherence to legislation and policies. Key responsibilities include leading the Forest Operations Monitoring Program and the Timber Revenue and Production Monitoring program, conducting quality assessments, and ensuring sustainable forest practices. Key Responsibilities:

•    Provides team leadership in the delivery of the Provincial Forest Operations Monitoring Program (FOMP) in accordance with the FOMP Policy and Quality Objectives, FOMP Quality Manual, Quality Management Principles, Quality Management System, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
•    Provide Area team leadership in the delivery of Timber Revenue and Production Monitoring program.
•    Provide Team leadership in the delivery of Reforestation Monitoring – Reforestation Standards of Alberta (RSA).
•    Provide ongoing support and training to the Forest Officers and Foresters as it related to assigned duties.
•    Provide support to Wildfire Management program as required.
•    Participate in issue management activities as required.
•    Assist in the field monitoring and identification of forest insects and disease as requested by the Senior Forester.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirement:
•    A 2-year diploma in Forestry or a related Natural Resources Management field plus four years of related and current experience.
•    Equivalencies such as a bachelor's degree in Forestry or a related Natural Resource Management field plus a minimum of 2 years of related and current experience will be considered. 
•    Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of one year of experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.
 

Assets:
•    Certified Timber Scaler with a valid scaler’s permit.

 

Additional Requirement:
•    Membership or eligibility for membership with the Alberta Association of Forest Management Professionals.

Notes

This position is a permanent, full-time role, with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday.
