Role
As an Auto Body Technician for the Reynolds-Alberta Museum, you will be charged with the preservation, restoration, maintenance, and interpretation of Alberta’s rich cultural property. These services are provided in compliance with professional international museum standards and in fulfillment of the Museum's goals for preservation and presentation of Alberta's material culture.
Reporting to the Curator, Transportation Collections, and the technician requires an advanced level of expertise, creativity, problem solving and independent judgment. As well, the position requires extensive knowledge of the other trades required in the restoration/preservation of artifacts; a working knowledge in Western Canadian History; and enhanced knowledge of the subject areas of Transportation, Agriculture and Industry in Canada.
To be successful in this position you must possess:
- Must have a minimum of a valid Alberta Trades Certificate in automotive bodywork.
- Superior knowledge and experience in welding, fabricating, woodworking, machining, automotive body repair, and painting.
- Requires excellent communication skills, both oral and written, as well as public relations abilities, and the ability to interpret mechanical artifacts.
- Superior knowledge of historical transportation, agricultural, industrial artifacts, and their maintenance requirements.
- Advanced knowledge of specialized preservation/restoration equipment.
- Ability to actively demonstrate vintage land transportation, industrial, and agricultural artifacts.
Qualifications
Alberta Journeyman Trade Certificate in automotive bodywork, plus a minimum three (3) years of experience in automotive restoration.
Equivalencies will be considered.

Salary
$2,268.66 to $2,971.22 bi-weekly ($59,212- $77,548/year)
Notes
Hours of work are 36.25 hours weekly.
