Role Responsibilities
The Government of Alberta, Construction and Maintenance Division within Transportation is currently looking for a District Support Specialist to join their team in Vermilion, AB. If you are currently looking for an administrative role to grow and advance within the unit this is an exciting opportunity, look no further and apply!
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the District Support Technologist supports the Field Support Technologist (FST) and Maintenance Contract Inspector (MCI). The incumbent will be responsible for some administrative tasks for the district to support other district administrative positions.
The main responsibilities for the District Support Technologist are (but not limited to):
- Assist the MCI with routine route inspections of highways and bridges to observe conditions, maintenance needs, safety concerns and taking or recommending corrective actions.
- Maintain highway inventories and administration of activities for asset management.
- Conduct field inspections to support Development and Planning Technologists regarding highway safety and ensure that department specifications and regulations are being implemented.
- Provide administrative support for the district.

Qualifications
Required:
- Two-year relatable diploma for example civil engineering technologist diploma, public administration, business administration.
- Eligibility for certification with Alberta Society of Engineering Technologists (ASET).
- Class 5 Driver's License.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Assets:
- Administrative experience, filing, reporting, taking minutes, file management.
- Data collection, verifying data as well as submission of data.
- Municipal or Contractor experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Notes
Hours of Work: 7.25 hours / 36.25 hours a week
Location: Vermilion, AB.
Traveling will consist of 25% of the work schedule.
