Are you looking for an opportunity to work outdoors this Summer in one of Alberta’s beautiful parks? Then please consider this opportunity!
 

The North Area of Alberta Parks is looking for motivated, hardworking individuals to provide seasonal maintenance services at several of their Provincial Parks.  This is an excellent opportunity to work in an outdoor setting learning a wide range of tasks. 
 

The maintenance team looks after Park campgrounds, buildings and equipment. Daily tasks include: 
 

  • Building, bathroom, and site cleaning 
  • Janitorial duties as required
  • Landscape maintenance (such as mowing and trimming grass)
  • Garbage pick-up
  • The use of various equipment such as tractors, lawn equipment, hand tools, and power tools
  • Moving firewood
     

Other tasks may include:

  • Minor repairs
  • Painting 
  • The repair and maintenance of vehicles and small equipment
     

The successful candidates must have excellent communication and organizational skills, be able to work both independently and as part of a team, and show initiative in taking on and completing new and challenging assignments within set deadlines. 
 

Please note these positions are seasonal, have a term of employment from May 2023 to September 2023, and are located at: Queen Elizabeth Provincial Park, Saskatoon Island Provincial Park, Moonshine Lake Provincial Park, and Youngs Point Provincial Park.

Qualifications

Requirements: 
 

  • Some high school education 
     

Other requirements:

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
  • Valid standard first aid
  • Drivers Abstract and defensive driving (by commencement)
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends and holiday shifts
     

Assets 

  • Experience in operation of lawn care equipment (e.g. trimmers, mowers, etc.), and operation of hand-held power tools 
  • Experience with four wheel drive trucks.
  • Experience with Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • TDG certificates 
  • WHIMIS

Salary

$19.84 – $23.86 per hour 

•    Weekend shifts are eligible for a premium of $3.25 per hour
•    Evening shifts are eligible for a premium of $2.75 per hour

Wage employees receive 11.2% in addition to regular wage earnings in lieu of benefits and vacation leave.

•    5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
•    6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay

Notes

Hours of Work: 40 hour work weeks with 8 hour shifts. This position will be required to work on evenings, weekends and holidays throughout the duration of the summer.
 

This posting will be used to fill up to 15 or more Maintenance Service Worker positions.

Additional Information:

•    This is a seasonal wage opportunity starting at the beginning of May and going until September long weekend.
