This competition will be used to fill a variety of positions at the Program Services 4 classification level across the Ministry of Hospital and Surgical Health Services and the Ministry of Primary and Preventative Health Services. 

Role Responsibilities

Our Program Services staff complete a wide range of functions within the ministries of Primary and Preventative Health Services and Hospital and Surgical Health Services. You do not need experience in all of the role responsibilities and you will be asked about your preferences in the application process. The responsibilities assigned to a role may be focused on one type of work or may be a combination from various categories in the following areas:

Program: Responsible for the development and implementation of programs and operational policies, including performance measurement and evaluation. Leads, supports, or contributes to projects or initiatives that impact the health care system and Albertans.

Policy: Shape and inform the direction and priorities of the provincial health system, including research, policy and strategy development, implementation, evaluation, and reporting.

Analytics: Responsible for conducting analytic activities and mobilizing analytic products to support and drive evidence-based decisions within Primary and Preventative Health Services and Hospital and Surgical Health Services and the broader health system, in collaboration with health and non-health system stakeholders and other Government of Alberta departments.

Planning: Leads and/or collaborates to coordinate activities and integrates information to facilitate forward planning and strategic priority achievement by coordinating, monitoring, and reporting on activities and outcomes in alignment with strategic direction.

Governance: Responsible for legislated and corporate functions regarding agencies, boards and commissions (ABCs), as well as governance requirements. Drafts Ministerial orders and cabinet packages related to appointments, collaborates with program area staff to develop, review and seek approval of governance documents, provide expert advice, guidance and monitoring of agency governance practices and processes in accordance with existing government frameworks, legislation and policy.

Information Technology (IT): Responsible for the provisioning of information technology services in support of ministries' goals and priorities of its many stakeholders. Assists in the timely delivery and operation of information technology solutions that support client needs and align with health system, cross-government, inter-provincial and national initiatives.

 

Engagement: Involved in the building and maintaining of positive relationships with key stakeholders/partners to facilitate communication, collaboration, and the achievement of mutually beneficial outcomes. (i.e. Engagement with stakeholders, specific interest groups, and / or First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples).

Qualifications

Program Services 4  
University graduation in a related field (eg: Health Sciences, Supply Chain Management, Architecture, Interior Design, Public Health, Public Policy, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Communications, Political Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computing Science or Business) plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience. 

Equivalencies will be considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience.
