Are you passionate about public land recreation and committed to fostering positive relationships within the recreation community? Join our dynamic team as a Recreation Engagement Officer! As a crucial member of the Recreation, Engagement & Partnerships regional team, you will report directly to the District Recreation Engagement Officer.
In this role, you will serve as a vital link between the Department and the public, playing a key role in providing information and assistance to the public regarding access and responsible use of vacant public land and Public Land Use Zones (PLUZ). You will actively contribute to the delivery of the Crown Land Vision and public lands education and engagement. Your responsibilities will include conducting patrols of known recreation sites, documenting the development of new random use sites, and performing routine maintenance of trails, staging areas, signs, and kiosks.
As you support the day-to-day operations of the Recreation Management program, you'll have the opportunity to demonstrate your specialized technical background and skills, progressively taking on more responsibilities as you showcase your proficiency in natural resource management.
The position requires an individual who can plan and deliver a robust public recreation outreach and engagement field program with minimal direct supervision, often working in remote locations and adverse weather conditions.
Your contributions will extend to supporting the ongoing planning, development, and facilitation of regional recreation programs. Additionally, you'll be actively engaged in fostering positive relationships within the recreation community, promoting the government's recreation goals and priorities. This involves educating the public on responsible stewardship, ensuring compliance with legislation, and maintaining a regular visible presence in the field.
Our North Region has vast spaces with both structured and unstructured recreation, a network of multi-use trails, and random camping. Your office is the lakes, forests, and remote landscapes that make up the boreal forest!
