Role Responsibilities
Health Care Lead (Medical and Health 2)
Direct Operations Homes:
- Edmonton (Residential and Support Services).
- Red Deer (Michener Services).
- Calgary (Graduated Supports).
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced nurse to join our team as a Health Care Lead (Medical and Health 2). In this role, you will provide clinical leadership, direct nursing care, and coordinate multidisciplinary health services to ensure high-quality, person-centered care for residents in their homes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop, implement, and update comprehensive care plans in collaboration with physicians and allied health professionals, including management of complex medical needs and transitions of care.
- Provide clinical supervision, coaching, and guidance to Medical and Health 1 (MH1) staff and Health Care Aides (HCAs), ensuring adherence to clinical standards, policies, and best practices.
- Oversee infection prevention and outbreak management in collaboration with public health authorities and external health providers.
- Respond to medical emergencies and direct staff during emergent situations to ensure resident safety and effective intervention.
- Review and investigate medication errors, adverse events, and other health-related incidents, implementing corrective actions and supporting continuous improvement.
- Liaise with resident's families, guardians, EMS, and other external partners to support continuity of care, safety, and overall quality of life.

Qualifications
Minimum Recrutment Standards:
- Degree or diploma related to the position assignment and one (1) year of related experience. Must be a regulated member of the appropriate college if required by the Health Professions Act.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with current license and one year of experience in Alberta as a Registered Nurse.
- Supervisory and clinical leadership experience, including coaching and mentoring staff.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and crisis management skills.
- Experience coordinating care.
- Excellent communication skills with residents, families, and partners.
Assets:
- Minimum one year of supervisory experience, including coaching, mentoring, conflict resolution, and supporting performance management.
- Experience working in residential or 24-hour care settings supporting medically fragile individuals, with strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations.
- Knowledge of accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, outbreak management protocols, and familiarity with healthcare documentation and client tracking systems.

Hours of work are 38.75 hours weekly.
This recruitment is used to fill 10 positions. 3 positions based in Edmonton, 1 in Calgary and 6 in Red Deer. This position may require travel occasionally.
- Must be currently registered and in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) and have clearly stated this within your cover letter and resume.
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR.
- Must be able to work shifts, including weekends and holidays. Shift work is required, including overnight shifts.
- Location is Red Deer, Calgary and Edmonton.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada. A current work visa is required.

Any costs associated with obtaining the required documents/checks as noted or interview travel expenses, will be the responsibility of the candidate.
