We are looking to Recruit Maintenance Team Leads to the following North Park areas:

  • Garner Lake Provincial Park 
  • Moose Lake Provincial Park 
  • Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park 
  • Whitney Lakes Provincial Park 
  • Queen Elizabeth Provincial Park

Role

This position is responsible for overseeing operations and supervision of Maintenance Services Workers within the assigned Parks.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Operational needs: 

  • Overseeing, operating and maintaining utility systems to ensure that drinking and waste water systems are operating to Canadian Drinking Water and Provincial guidelines
  • Coordinating and performing routine and preventative facility maintenance as assigned


Supervisory needs:

  • Assisting with the hiring and supervision of seasonal wage staff, provide orientation training and monitor on-going staff performance
  • Preparing staff schedules; monitor timesheets
  • Handling staff and visitor complaints 

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Some high school education 
  • 2 years related supervisory, cleaning and equipment operating experience 


Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Clean driver’s abstract
  • Valid Standard First Aid Certificate and WHMIS (by commencement)


Assets: 

  • Good working knowledge in the operation, maintenance and safety of small and large equipment, hand tools and power tools
  • Excellent communication, organization and teamwork skills
  • Supervision experience and good conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to lead and follow OH&S procedures and protocols
  • Carpentry, plumbing and/or electrical experience
  • Experience with water sampling
  • Computer skills
  • Chainsaw certification
  • OHV certification

Salary

$24.31 – $29.71 per hour 

Wage employees receive 11.2% in addition to regular wage earnings in lieu of benefits and vacation leave.

  • 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
  • 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay

Notes

Terms of Employment:

  • Seasonal contract from May to October to be determined at time of hire.
  • Work week is based on 40 hours per week, days of the week will depend on the placement, but staff can expect to work some weekends. 
  • This position requires physically demanding, outdoor work in variety of weather conditions
  • Training will be provided to successful candidates
