Salary:
Maintenance Service Worker 1 (MSW1) – Park Maintenance Worker 1:
$23.11 - $26.00 per hour
Maintenance Service Worker 2 (MSW2) – Park Maintenance Worker 2:
$24.80 - $30.36 per hour
Maintenance Service Worker 3 (MSW3) – Park Maintenance Crew Lead:
$26.18 - $32.08 per hour
In addition to regular wages, regular Wage employees receive 11.6% in lieu of benefits and vacation leave:
• 5.6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
• 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay
In addition to the regular wages and the additional pay in lieu of benefits and vacation, regular wage employees are entitled to shift premium pay:
• $3.25 per hour for weekends
• $2.75 per hour for evenings

Role Responsibilities
If you enjoy working outside and are committed to caring for Alberta Park’s facilities and campgrounds, come join our Maintenance Team in the Slave Lake Area. We are looking for highly motivated, well-organized, responsible Maintenance Service Workers for the 2026 summer operating season.
Individuals will be part of a team accountable for providing regular maintenance and operational duties that support the day use areas, campgrounds, facilities and trail systems.
We are currently looking to hire Park Maintenance Workers to work in the Slave Lake Area.
Park Maintenance Worker 1 (MSW1)
• Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park – 2 positions
• Hilliard’s Bay Provincial Park – 5 positions
Park Maintenance Worker 2 (MSW2)
• Lesser Slave Lake and Hilliard’s Bay Provincial Parks – 1 position (for the entire area)
Park Maintenance Crew Lead (MSW3)
• Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park – 1 position
As a Park Maintenance Service Worker (MSW1), duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Lawn maintenance and grounds keeping duties including Day Use areas and campgrounds
• Minor repairs of park facilities.
• Performing routine custodial and cleaning duties of park facilities.
• Routine Janitorial Duties on Shower building and outhouses
• Responding to in-person requests for information on area amenities and park conditions, as needed.
• Performing routine and preventative maintenance on infrastructure, vehicles and equipment.
• Completing trail and signage projects.
• Reporting all maintenance concerns accordingly.
• Being familiar with and practicing all pertinent Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) policies, procedures and protocols as well as the Facility Emergency Response Plan and protocols.
• Completing administrative tasks such as timesheets, expense claims, commencement and termination paperwork, and online courses.

Continued Role Responsibilities
As the Park Maintenance Worker 2 (MSW2), primary duties include assisting with and performing MSW1 duties in addition to some front-line administrative and supervisory tasks such as:
• Operation of Equipment single axle Garbage Truck and solid waste management and disposal in three provincial parks (Lesser Slave Lake, Hilliards Bay, and Winagami Lake).
• Operation of Equipment such as tandem axle trucks (Class 3 with Q endorsement), skid steer, loader, backhoe/excavator, farm tractor and all associated implements and attachments, single and tandem axle dump trucks.
• Minor repairs of facilities.
• Performing routine custodial and cleaning duties of park facilities.
• Responding to in-person requests for information on area amenities and park conditions, as needed.
• Performing routine and preventative maintenance on infrastructure, vehicles and equipment.
• Reporting all maintenance concerns accordingly.

As the Park Maintenance Crew Lead (MSW3), primary duties include assisting MSW1 & MSW2 with the duties mentioned above, in addition to some administrative and supervisory tasks such as:
• Onsite lead for a crew of MSW staff; accountable for direct site operations and providing input for task scheduling for other staff.
• Assisting with formal inspections, maintenance and servicing of equipment.
• Maintaining roads and parking lot areas.
• Supporting the operation of various utility systems in accordance with standards and regulations to ensure safe provision of drinking water and wastewater removal/treatment.
• Conducting purchasing and ordering supply inventory within budget.
• Assisting with staff training and staff performance reviews.
• Assisting with service contract management.
• Assisting Tech 3 & 4 with onsite projects

All positions will require you to work various shifts including weekends and holidays. You have the opportunity to work up to 40 hours per week and will be paid for number of hours worked. Qualifications
Education and Experience required:
Park Maintenance Worker 1 – (Maintenance Service Worker 1)
Some high school education.
Equivalency: Directly related experience considered on the basis of 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Park Maintenance Worker 2 – (Maintenance Service Worker 2)
Some high school education and 1 year of directly related experience.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; OR 1 year of experience for 1 year of education, and some supervisory experience.
Park Maintenance Crew Lead – (Maintenance Service Worker 3)
Some high school education, related training and 2 years of related experience, including supervisory experience.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; OR 1 year of experience for 1 year of education, and some supervisory experience.
Additional requirements:
• Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent and Driver’s Abstract.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level "C"/AED Certificate.
Additional Assets to be successful in any of the roles:
• High School Diploma is an asset but not required.
• Air Brake Endorsement
• Experience with hand and power tools; good working knowledge in the operation, maintenance and safety of small equipment.
• Experience working in custodial, landscaping, or similar positions.
• Chainsaw certification.
• Exceptional communication skills and comfort level in dealing with difficult customer interactions or complaints.
