As the Ministry of Forestry and Parks we are responsible for fostering Alberta’s environmentally responsible forest management practices, including management of wildfires. We preserve our provincial parks for the recreation and enjoyment of Albertans. As well as enabling access to public lands for recreational and commercial purposes while prioritizing conservation. Forestry and Parks also manage public lands and balances sustainable rangelands and grazing leases for Alberta producers.

Role Responsibilities
Step into one of the Region’s most influential administrative leadership roles—where your strategic insight, operational excellence, and passion for service will directly shape the success of multiple high‑impact programs. As a senior leader within the Business Services Group, you’ll drive administrative direction, guide a talented team, and enable the Region to deliver exceptional services across diverse mandates and stakeholders.
Reporting directly to the Regional Business Services Manager, this position is one of the two most senior administrative roles in the Region. You will lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of all major administrative functions, including finance, contract management, manpower planning, client service, systems administration, and program support. Your leadership will ensure consistent interpretation and application of policies, acts, and regulations, while strengthening administrative excellence across multiple regional programs, branches, and partnering ministries. This is a standout opportunity for a strategic, people‑focused leader ready to make a significant impact.
Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Overseeing financial management, contract administration, and general administrative operations.
- Leading strategic and regional business planning to support long‑term organizational goals.
- Ensuring quality assurance through effective processes, controls, and compliance monitoring.
- Directing, coaching, and developing senior administrative staff while supporting up to 20 additional indirect reports.
- Guiding regional human resource administration to ensure consistent practices and adherence to standards.
- Implementing and maintaining general administrative standard operating procedures.
- Managing facilities, equipment, and related resources to ensure operational efficiency.
- Overseeing records management to support regulatory compliance and organizational continuity.

Qualifications
Education and experience:"
One-year certificate in Business administration and finance plus
Two years related experience; or a high school diploma and several years related experience or equivalent as described.
Equivalencies:
Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of:
One year of experience for one year of education or One year of education for one year of experience.
Assets:
- Experience working within government, public sector, or large multi‑branch organizations.
- Experience in supervising large teams in customer service.
- Experience in workbook management, accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Extensive knowledge of administrative systems, procedures and financial systems reporting.
- Experience with databases such as FIRES and other tracking systems and programs which would include M365 (Word, Excel, Teams, MS Planner).

This is a permanent, full-time role with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday.
