Salary:
Maintenance Service Worker 1 (MSW1) – Park Maintenance Worker 1:
$23.11 - $26.00 per hour
Maintenance Service Worker 3 (MSW3) – Park Maintenance Crew Lead:
$26.18 - $32.08 per hour
In addition to regular wages, regular Wage employees receive 11.6% in lieu of benefits and vacation leave:
• 5.6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
• 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay
In addition to the regular wages and the additional pay in lieu of benefits and vacation, regular wage employees are entitled to shift premium pay:
• $3.25 per hour for weekends and holidays
• $2.75 per hour for evenings

Role Responsibilities
If you enjoy working outside and are committed to improving a visitor’s experience when they visit a provincial park by maintaining facilities and campgrounds, come join our Maintenance Team at one of the Provincial Parks and Recreation Areas within the Rocky Mountain House District below:
• Crimson Lake Provincial Park/Twin Lake Provincial Recreation Area
• Ram Falls Provincial Park
We are looking for highly motivated, well-organized, responsible Park Maintenance Workers for the 2026 summer season. Individuals will be part of a team accountable for providing regular maintenance, janitorial, and operational duties that support the day-to-day operation of campgrounds, day use areas, facilities and trail systems.
We are currently looking to hire:
• 2 Park Maintenance Crew Leads (MSW3)
• 9 Park Maintenance Workers (MSW1)
As a Park Maintenance Service Worker (MSW1), duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Performing landscaping, building cleaning and site servicing of campgrounds, day use areas and facilities.
• Performing routine and preventative maintenance on infrastructure, vehicles and equipment.
• Conducting water testing for small water systems.
• Operating equipment such as mowers, trimmers, ATVs, skid steers, etc.
• Assisting with trail maintenance, beach and dock maintenance.
• Installing and maintaining signage.
• Reporting all maintenance concerns accordingly.
• Assists with hazard tree management and invasive plant management programs.
• Being familiar with and practicing all pertinent Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) policies, procedures and protocols; and with the Facility Emergency Response Plan and protocols.
• Completing administrative tasks such as timesheets, expense claims, commencement and termination paperwork, and online courses.
Continued Role Responsibilities
As the Park Maintenance Crew Lead (MSW3), primary duties include assisting with and performing (MSW1) duties in addition to some front-line administrative and supervisory tasks such as:
• Onsite lead for a crew of MSW staff. Accountable for the direct site operations, and for leading the task of scheduling for other staff.
• Assist with formal inspections, maintenance and servicing of equipment.
• Assist with playground routine inspections and maintenance.
• Conducts trail maintenance projects.
• Maintains roads and parking lot areas.
• Installs and removes docks, maintains beaches.
• Operates heavy equipment such as loaders, skid steers, groomers, etc.
• Operates chainsaws, brushsaws and other higher risk equipment.
• Assists with water and wastewater system start-up/shut down and operating.
All positions will require you to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays. You have the opportunity to work up to 40 hours per week and will be paid for the number of hours worked. You must have good physical stamina to be able to perform manual duties outdoors and in any type of weather condition – rain or shine.

Qualifications
Education and Experience required:
Park Maintenance Worker – Maintenance Service Worker 1
• Some high school education OR directly related experience based on one year of experience for one year of education.
Park Maintenance Crew Lead – Maintenance Service Worker 3
• Some high school education, related training, and two years of related experience OR directly related experience based on one year of experience for one year of education and some supervisory experience.
Additional Assets to be successful in either role:
• Experience with hand and power tools; good working knowledge in the operation, maintenance, and safety of small equipment.
• Experience working in custodial, landscaping, or similar positions.
• Chainsaw certification and Skid Steer certification.
• Exceptional communication skills and comfort level in dealing with difficult customer interactions or complaints.
• Experience working within a campground setting.

Notes
Terms of Employment:
For the Park Maintenance Worker role (up to 9 positions):
• Early May start to early/late September 2026 end date.
For the Park Maintenance Crew Lead role (up to 2 positions):
• Early April start date to late October 2026 end date.
For all positions:
• Access to reliable transportation to and from place of work.
• Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent will be required.
• Final candidates will be required to provide an acceptable 5-year Commercial Driver’s Abstract prior to their employment start date.
• Recognized current Standard First Aid and CPR Level "C"/AED Certificate will be needed for all positions. Proof or course completion is required prior to employment start date.
• Adherence to Alberta Parks Uniform Policy; all personal protective equipment is provided. Certified Safety footwear is not provided, but candidates will be reimbursed for a portion of the cost.
• These positions will require outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions.
• Training sessions at the beginning of employment are mandatory (late April/early May).
• Staff housing may be available in Crimson Lake Provincial Park.
Maintenance Workers may encounter emotionally challenging situations, participate in conflict resolution, interact with irritated or difficult visitors or provide support during emergencies events or incidents. Applicants should be prepared to manage these circumstances with composure, sound judgment, and effective communication skills.
