The Digital Design and Delivery (DDD) division within the Ministry of Technology and Innovation (TI) leads the development of the next generation of digital public services for the GoA. DDD partners with other departments to deliver products, platforms and services that are better, faster and easier, through modern user-centered agile processes. DDD offers potential candidates a unique opportunity to work on meaningful challenges that transform government and positively impact Albertans.
The Software Delivery branch within DDD is accountable for the excellence of the technical delivery of software. The branch oversees the technical practices of architecture, CloudOps, DevOps & QA, and software development, and enables product and platform teams by providing access to common capabilities, like cloud services, reusable components, tooling and patterns, and includes application maintenance services (AMS).
Role Responsibilities
The Software Delivery branch is looking for a Manager of CloudOps. This position will report to the Director of CloudOps.
The responsibilities of this role include:
- Leading the development of best practices and providing guidelines to ensure the effective and appropriate use of cloud capabilities for product or service delivery.
- Managing and overseeing the operations of OpenShift clusters across both cloud and on-premise environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive seamless integration and continuous improvement.
- Ensuring that platforms, services, and architectures are robust, scalable, and secure.
- Providing regular reports and updates to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Leading the Cloud Platforms team, aligning its efforts with business objectives, and fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Offering leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for team members.
- Contributing to team and departmental goals, ensuring alignment with broader ministry and government priorities.
- Overseeing human resource processes, including vacation management, training, and performance evaluations.

Qualifications
Requirements:
- University degree in a related field such as Computer Science or Information Technology plus a minimum of four (4) years of related progressively responsible experience.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (Amazon Web Services, Azure or Google Cloud Platform) and experience in ensuring high availability, scalability, and security in cloud services and architectures.
- Experience in CloudOps and user-centred or agile digital delivery.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams, with a focus on fostering collaboration and driving continuous improvement.
Equivalencies:
- A related two-year diploma and a minimum of six (6) years of related experience; or
- A related one-year certificate and a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience; or
- A minimum of eight (8) years of related experience.
Assets:
- Proven experience in managing and optimizing cloud infrastructure, including experience with Kubernetes/OpenShift clusters, both in cloud and on-premise environments.
- Experience providing operational and monitoring support to application teams, including troubleshooting issues, optimizing performance, and ensuring seamless operation of cloud-based services and applications.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible to automate cloud provisioning, configuration, and management.

Term of Employment: Permanent, Full-time position.
Hours of Work: 7.25 hours daily / 36.25 weekly – Monday to Friday
Location: Remote across Alberta
This position is eligible for remote work. You must reside in Alberta to work remotely.
