As an Information Security Officer 3 (ISO3), you will play a critical role in protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the Government of Alberta’s information, IT, OT, and IoT assets.

We are hiring for a specialized role, OT/IoT Security & Monitoring – Focused on securing operational technology environments, industrial control systems, and IoT platforms.


This role supports the GoA’s Information Security Management Directives (ISMD) and contributes to the safe operation of computing and operational technology environments.


Responsibilities:

Some of your responsibilities in this position will include but are not limited to:

  • Identify, assess, monitor, and respond to vulnerabilities, threats, and incidents impacting OT systems (PLCs, HMIs, DCS, SCADA) and IoT platforms.
  • Provide security advice across OT, IoT, and IT domains, bridging operations and cybersecurity.
  • Participate in projects as an OT/IoT security SME, focusing on architecture, segmentation, and secure device onboarding.
  • Perform vulnerability and threat assessments for industrial protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA, etc.) and IoT ecosystems.
  • Design and integrate AI-powered monitoring tools for OT networks and IoT platforms, onboarding telemetry to SIEM.
  • Document risks in the IT Security Risk Register with OT/IoT context and mitigations.

Qualifications

Required:

  • A university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
  • 4 years of related experience in OT/IoT experience including the ICS/SCADA environments, industrial networking, protocol analysis, passive monitoring tools, IoT device onboarding, SIEM/log integration, and IEC 62443 familiarity.



Equivalencies:

  • A related two-year diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution and a minimum of six (6) years related experience; or
  • A related one-year certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution and a minimum of seven (7) years related experience.



Assets:

  • Security certification (CISSP, CISM, CISA, CEH, GPEN, or equivalent) or working toward certification is expected.
  • Experience with AI-powered cybersecurity tools and techniques.

Term of Employment: Permanent full-time position
Hours of Work: 36.25 hrs/week – Monday to Friday
Location: Remote across Alberta

This position is eligible for remote work. You must reside in Alberta to work remotely.

A written assessment may be required as part of the interview process.

Final candidates will be required to undergo enhanced security screening.

Depending on the project, on-call rotation and overtime may be required.
