Role Responsibilities

Shape the Future of IT Reporting & Analytics with the Government of Alberta

Are you passionate about turning data into insight and driving smarter decision-making? Join the Government of Alberta (GoA) as an IT Reporting Analyst, where your analytics expertise will directly support efficient IT procurement, contract performance, and vendor accountability across government.

Reporting to the IT Reporting & Relations Manager, this role delivers high-value reporting and analytics that provide visibility into procurement performance, contract health, and compliance. You will work closely with IT Procurement team,  stakeholders, and reporting partners to ensure data integrity, actionable insights, in alignment with GoA policies and standards.

Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

IT Reporting & Analytics

    • Configure and maintain reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel, PowerPoint) to support IT procurement and contract reporting.
    • Develop and automate dashboards and recurring reports to monitor procurement activity, cycle times, and performance trends.
    • Analyze data to identify bottlenecks, risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
    • Document reporting methodologies and support auditability.


Process Improvement & Best Practices

    • Collaborate with IT Procurement team  to enhance processes, reporting standards, and metrics.
    • Monitor procurement throughput, SLA adherence, and status using multiple reporting tools.
    • Support cross-GoA initiatives and contribute to standardized reporting practices.


Audit, Compliance & Information Management

    • Ensure compliance with GoA document management, trade agreements, and policy requirements.
    • Audit procurement files and ERP data for accuracy and completeness.
    • Prepare evidence packages and support ATI and OAG audit responses.


Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

    • Partner with service owners and stakeholders to clarify data needs and present insights.
    • Develop clear briefing materials for leadership.
    • Informally mentor Reporting Officers on reporting tools, analytics, and audit readiness.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • University graduation in a related field such as Business Administration, Computer Sciences, Information Technology, or Public Administration.
  • 2 years of progressively responsible related experience in procurement, contract, management.
  • Experience in Supplier/ Vendor Management.  
  • Experience in strategy and policy planning, research, and development.


Equivalencies: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education


Assets: 

  • A diploma in procurement, contract management or Supply Chain Management.
  • In depth knowledge of Procurement, Contract and Supplier Relationship Management
  • Experience and/or solid understanding of Canadian Government procurement policies, legislation, and an understanding of its application.
  • Experience in consultation and negotiation.
  • Solid understanding of IT operations, project integration, ministry support, application support, supplier management and their dependencies.
  • Experience in project management methodologies.
  • Experience in Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) systems and processes.
  • Experience in reporting practices and methodologies.
  • Experience with information management and best practices.
  • Knowledge of IT concepts, ITIL, COBIT, and Agile.
  • Proficiency with standard office productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Office suite of products, SharePoint, SAP, Ariba).
  • Experience in mentorship and coaching.
  • Experience in preparing and delivering reports, project documentation, professional presentations, and training sessions.
  • Adaptable, forward-thinker with an eagerness to learn and leverage Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies to drive operational efficiency.

Term of Employment: Permanent full-time position
Hours of Work:  36.25 hours per week/ Monday to Friday
Location: Remote across Alberta

This position is eligible for remote work. You must reside in Alberta to work remotely for this position.

Successful candidates will be required to attend occasional mandatory in person meetings at the Edmonton office.
