Role Responsibilities
The Application Services Branch is on the lookout for passionate and driven Application Analysts to join their fast-paced, innovative team. Multiple positions are available—don’t miss your chance to be part of something impactful!
Reporting to the Team lead Application Services and the Manager Application Services, the Application Analysts provides applications development, maintenance and enhancement support to complex custom systems, both in a primary and backup role. Working within government/departmental/divisional information technology guidelines, policies, procedures and practices, the Application Analysts undertakes application maintenance and enhancement projects individually, and as a team member. The systems supported are both foundational and critical systems supporting program delivery within the ministries.
Application Analysts provides technical consulting with other team members and client staff as appropriate, project leadership of small to medium sized projects and full range of system and customer support services (e.g. system design, development, testing and implementation of new systems as well as maintenance and enhancements of existing applications and client training as required).
Responsibilities:
Some of your responsibilities in this position will include:
- Systems analysis for the development, enhancement and maintenance of the applications, or any impact from changes on interfaced systems, to attain clarity on business requirements to ensure that business needs are well understood.
- Providing production operation and support tasks to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the applications.
- Planning, supporting, testing and documenting upgrades to COTS and vendor products (such as operating systems, compilers and utilities, job scheduler, database management systems, etc) to maintain continued application stability.
- Gathering and documenting information for the Security Threat and Risk Assessment and Statement of Acknowledged Risk.
Collecting and documenting evidence for a variety of application audits. - Collaborating with other technical teams (such as network operations, cloud operations, audit services, domain access management, etc) to deliver application services.

Qualifications
Required:
- University graduation in Computer Sciences, Information Technology or a related discipline.
- Two (2) years of directly related experience in:
o Developing and debugging code in C#, .NET/CORE, MVC, ASP.NET, Java, Entity Framework.
o Working with Software, tools and technologies may include: Visual Studio, C#, .NET/CORE, MVC, ASP.NET, Java, Entity Framework, MS SQL, SSIS.
o Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions using protocols such as SAML and integration with identity providers (e.g. Azure AD), interface development such as Web API.
o Web presentation protocols – HTML, CSS, JavaScript/ECMA script, JQuery, Angular and React.
o Transport protocols such as JSON, REST, WCF services, and WebSocket communication.
Equivalency: Equivalencies will be considered:
- A related two-year diploma in computer technology or a related discipline from a recognized postsecondary institution and four (4) years related experience; or
- A related one-year certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution and five (5) years related experience.
Assets:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills - ability to present complex information in a clear and concise format.
- Expertise in server setup, configuration, and patching of COTS products.
- Expertise in programming principles, techniques, practices, logic and database design.
- Solid understanding of database principles, practice, design, configuration.
- Formal application lifecycle development methodology knowledge
- Strong organizational and time-priority management skills to effectively balance multiple priorities and demands.
- Experience with application design and change management procedures.
