Employment and Financial Services (EFS) Division is responsible for policy development and delivery of employment and income services including contracted employment services, career resources, and the Income Support (IS) and Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) programs.

Role Responsibilities

The Business Coordinator role is a key component to both the administrative structure and the effective and efficient operations of the worksites. This administrative professional is responsible for the Business Unit’s productivity, efficiency, effectiveness, project administration and delivery in all aspects of administration for their assigned worksites and for assigned staff.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee and ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, and government-wide policies related to budgets, financial transactions, human resources, facilities, and records management.
  • Lead and supervise a team of Administrative Supervisors and provide direction to a broader administrative support team.
  • Administer accounts payable/receivable, procurement processes, and expenditure monitoring to ensure fiscal responsibility and adherence to policies.
  • Manage human resources processes, including recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefits, and personnel records, ensuring compliance with collective agreements and HR policies.
  • Manage the fleet vehicle program, including scheduling maintenance and repairs, coordinating bookings, and ensuring compliance with all fleet policies.
  • Oversee site-related operations by liaising with building management and accommodations teams to address facility needs and resolve issues.
  • Provide leadership, training, and development for administrative staff, fostering team building and ensuring operational efficiency.
  • Oversee office accommodations, telecommunication, and IT needs for staff members, ensuring safe and efficient working environments.
  • Maintain administrative systems, records, and procedures, ensuring compliance with audit standards and legislation.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • One-year certification in a related field plus two years related experience; or equivalent as described. 
  • Demonstrated experience in administration, financial management, and human resources, preferably in a government or public service setting.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a track record of successfully supervising and developing teams.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.


Equivalency: Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of one year of experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.

Assets 

  • In-depth knowledge of collective agreements, HR policies, POPA regulations, and occupational health and safety practices.

Notes

  • Hours of work are 36.25 weekly, Monday to Friday. This competition is used to fill one full-time permanent position in Red Deer.

  • Final candidates will be required to undergo a security screening.
