The Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village (UCHV) is an outdoor living history museum that that provides an interactive exploration of early Alberta settlement history by delivering true-to-life visitor experiences and educational programs based on the Ukrainian settlement experience. More than 35 historic buildings have been relocated from east central Alberta to the site to illustrate the 1892-1930 period. Costumed interpreters portray real people who once lived in the region, allowing visitor to travel back in time to learn about the region’s history, people and culture.

Role
The Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village UCHV requires up to three seasonal admissions cashiers to work from May 15 through until September 4 and then on September 9 for the last special event of the season.
First impressions are vital. The admissions cashier is the first contact for visitors and is key to creating a warm and welcoming museum experience. Key tasks include welcoming visitors, processing gate admission, answering any way-finding questions. Administrative duties include daily cash reconciliations.
Specifically, duties will include:
- Collection of admission fees, including accepting various passes and other admissions incentives, responding to enquiries and familiarizing visitors with the site, administering economic surveys, discount monitoring, and ensuring the visitors have a positive first contact experience.
- Reconciliation of cash, including maintaining a balanced float, daily reconciliation of admission fees and cost recovery, and timely delivery of cash admissions and reconciliations to senior administrative staff.
- Maintain a friendly and courteous attitude toward all visitors, handling visitor complaints in a professional manner and providing direction to visitors regarding the day’s site activities.
- May be required to undertake additional administrative duties e.g. data entry, supporting various program areas as needed.
You will be required to work with minimal supervision and adapt quickly to high volume visitation, particularly on special event days. Quick decision-making and problem solving skills will be necessary in order to keep traffic moving at these times. Reconciliation and documentation must be completed on a daily basis, so that cash can be deposited and cash blotter can be maintained by other administrative staff.
Qualifications
Some high school education. Directly related experience considered on the basis of one year of experience for one year of education.
- Mathematical and problem-solving skills is required.
- Excellent communication skills to be able to readily put visitors at ease in the most stressful situations.
- Experience in cash handling is required
- Customer service experience is a definite asset.

Salary
$18.69 - $22.39/hour
Notes
Weekend and statutory holiday work is required. The Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village’s normal admissions hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday - Sunday, five days per week, plus holiday Mondays. Admissions cashiers will work on a rotational basis.
The position is for the summer season, with anticipated start date in May 2023, and continuing until September 2023.
