The Cloud Web Hosting Services team is part of the Cloud Platform Services pillar in the Office of the Corporate Chief Information Officer & Telecommunications (OCCIO&T) division. This team delivers web hosting and cloud platform services for web applications in the Government of Alberta (GoA).  

The Cloud Web Hosting Services team works with many teams in the division in order to provide efficient and secure delivery of services. For example: 

  • Access Management – Creation, management, and termination of accounts
  • Architecture – Enterprise Architecture and Solution Architecture
  • Application Support teams – Application Development (ADS) and Management (AMS)
  • Platform Services – Database, Collaboration, ServiceNow, etc. 
  • Technical Services – Server management, Storage, Network
  • Service Desk and End User Computing Services
  • Service Design, Quality and Lifecycle Support – Change Management, Incident/Problem Management, Service Management, etc. 

Reporting to the Team Lead of Cloud Web Hosting Services, this role is part of a team of IT professionals that provides web platforms and services enabling web application and content teams with web hosting on premise or in the cloud, and other cloud services – which include Infrastructure as a Service (IAAS), Platform as a Service, (PAAS), and Software as a Service (SAAS). This is achieved by leveraging various technologies and services such as IIS, .NET, Cloudflare, file transfer services, TLS/SSL certificate lifecycle management, ServiceNow, web search and security policies, PowerShell, Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud Platform. 

The role is an intermediate position on the Systems Analyst job ladder and a successful candidate is a technical expert that can build and deliver solutions for initiatives that range in size and complexity. You will have strengths in more than one technology, in addition to cloud, and a level of competence in multiple domains. As a Cloud Web Hosting team member, you will contribute to the design and solution delivery and provide leadership to other analysts and IMT staff as needed, within your technical expertise.

As the successful incumbent, you will demonstrate:

  • The ability to understand requirements and translate business problems into technology plans
  • Flexibility to accommodate changing plans, requirements and priorities
  • The ability to assess the impact of technology changes to multiple environments and communicate this to multiple sectors/ministries/departments, senior SA management, and other impacted stakeholders
  • Strong customer service focused interpersonal, communication, and consulting skills


University graduation in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline plus two years related experience, or equivalent as described below is required. 


The following is required:

  • Experience supporting an Enterprise IT environment following ITIL practices
  • Experience in web server administration and website hosting using Microsoft based platforms 
  • Experience with IIS and .Net website hosting
  • Experience with scripting and automation (ex: PowerShell)


Assets are:

  • Experience with File Transfer Services (FTP and SFTP)
  • Experience hosting websites on the cloud (i.e. Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services) 
  • Experience with serverless, DevOps, containerization, and CDNs such as Cloudflare 
  • Experience working with SSL certificate life cycle management
  • Experience in Linux


Equivalency: A related two-year diploma in computer technology or a related discipline from a recognized postsecondary institution and four years related experience; or a related one-year certificate from a recognized postsecondary institution and five years related experience.

$2,645.60 - $3,632.52 bi-weekly ($69,050 - $94,808 / year)


Final candidates will be required to undergo a security screening.

Must reside in Alberta to work remotely.

On-call rotation and occasional overtime is required.
