As a Team Lead your responsibilities includes:
• Be responsible for the overall implementation, coordination and supervision of treatment plans to ensure that the treatment, counselling and life skills development of the adolescents in care at the Yellowhead Youth Centre are being met.
• Directly supervise 2-3 Child & Youth Care Worker 1C’s and be able to lead them in a collaborative environment to deliver effective interventions in a therapeutic milieu designed to meet safety and security requirements.
• Demonstrate a good knowledge of policies, procedures and practices related to intensive campus based treatment and the ability to effectively implement daily operations that maintain the Centre’s accreditation status.
To be successful in this position, you must demonstrate strong leadership and critical thinking skills. You will have related theoretical knowledge of child care practice; assessment, treatment and behavioural management, as well you will draw upon your exceptional written and verbal communication skills to be effective relationships with others.
This position requires a candidate who is available to work on shift schedule of three evening shifts, three Day shifts and three days off, which includes weekends.
Qualifications
Requirements:
• Degree or Diploma in Child and Youth Care is preferred. Other related Human Services degrees or diplomas may be considered.
• A minimum of three years progressively responsible experience in a campus based treatment setting is required.
• Current first aid certificate, suicide intervention training and/or experience working with Indigenous youth and families are also considered assets.
Assets:
• A high cultural competency in Indigenous experience
• Child and Youth Care Degree or Diploma
• Related experience in therapeutic campus-based care setting, working with indigenous populations, working in youth homes, teacher, educational assistant, crisis intervention, family counselling, youth counselling, youth correction work, childcare program development (Teacher, Educational Assistant, Psychologist) and behavioral therapy.
• Current Certification in First Aid with CPR and Suicide Intervention

Permanent/Temporary Employee Hours of Work:
This position works 38.75 hours per week, and works shift schedule of 3 evening shifts (2:45-11pm), 3 day shifts (7am-3:15 pm) and 3 regular days off.
• Final candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment checks including medical checks, Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector security screening, an Intervention Services Record check and academic credentials check.
• Class 5 driver’s license is required
