The Ministry of Children and Family Services funds programs and services to support vulnerable children, youth, families, and individuals to live safely and succeed in Alberta. This includes providing services and resources to protect children and youth from abuse and neglect and effectively address harm that has placed them in need of intervention. Mentoring and support services are available to youth transitioning into healthy, productive adults. The ministry also invests in community-based groups that support prevention and early intervention services such as Family Resource Networks, youth emergency shelters as well as programs that raise awareness and help respond to family violence, sexual violence, and abuse.

Role Responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity to enhance your skills and experience working with youth who face a variety of significant emotional and behavioral challenges due to concerns of trauma, adverse childhood experiences, mental health, addictions and/or developmental disabilities.
To be successful in this position, you must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, treatment and trauma-informed practice, ability to apply theoretical knowledge of child and youth care practices, observation skills, supervision, and communication skills as well as the ability to adapt to complex and ever-changing environments.
Working collaboratively as an integral member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team, where two days are not the same, you will be responsible for:
- Participating in all aspects of individual therapeutic treatment planning.
- Monitoring and recording behaviors and outcome progress.
- Overseeing and arranging daily treatment plan activities.
- Supporting youth to be successful/working towards well-being.

Qualifications
Requirements:
- Education: Related Diploma or Degree
- Experience: 2 years of related experience
Related Education: (Either Diploma or Degree):
- Human Service Worker, Social Work, Criminology, Criminal Justice, Correctional or Police Services, Psychology, Sociology and Education
- There are no equivalencies for Child and Youth Care Work 2
