Alberta Infrastructure designs, builds, manages and maintains government-owned and operated facilities, and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that schools, hospitals and government facilities infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta’s population. The Ministry also provides accommodation services and manages a large portfolio of owned and leased facilities while maintaining fiscal accountability and optimizing value for Albertans.

Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Facilities Coordinator, the Plumber will be responsible for the repair, installation, maintenance, and alterations of a variety of equipment and plumbing systems. Additionally, you will maintain an inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment required to perform these duties. The plumber will also be responsible for monitoring the progress of maintenance contracts specific to your trade and assisting in compiling information for project tendering.
You must be able to work independently while working within a team environment. Your ability to maintain positive working relationships with external and internal clients in a sensitive environment through your use of strong communication skills will be a key to your success in this role. An extensive knowledge of building maintenance practices will be valuable as you develop in this position.

Qualifications
Required:
- Valid Alberta journeyman level plumbing and gasfitter trade certification is required.
- Two years directly related experience in the operation and maintenance of facilities
- Two years working in an institutional setting
- Valid class 5 driver’s license
- Physically able to perform heavy work, as well as work at heights and in confined spaces
The Plumber must be able to:
- Read blueprints and specifications
- Accurately estimate plumbing and gas fitting resources needed to complete larger scale projects
- Plan, prioritize, and coordinate multiple activities under time pressures
- Monitor work provided by contractors
- Demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, flexibility, creativity, and attention to detail and accuracy
- Demonstrate commitment to confidentiality, diplomacy, client service, and continuous improvement
