Role Responsibilities
Are you passionate about land use and environmental stewardship? As a Land Management Technologist, you will play a key role in administering land use applications, agreements, and inspections to support responsible land management. This position requires strong analytical skills, the ability to interpret land title data, and excellent communication to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administration of Land Use Applications, Referrals, and Agreements:
- Review and assess land use applications, referrals, and agreements by interpreting land title information, identifying potential conflicts, and coordinating with internal staff and external agencies to provide recommendations and support informed decision making.
- Preparation of Land Use Requests:
- Research and prepare forms for land use activities, including purchase, sale, or occupation of land.
- Collaborate with Public Lands, Municipal Governments, and other agencies to collect and organize supporting information.
- Field Inspections and Unauthorized Activity Response:
- Conduct and coordinate field inspections to identify, document, and assess unauthorized activities or land use concerns, research responsible parties, and support outcomes through recommendations, program evaluation, and engagement with compliance or enforcement as required.
- Program Development and Data Management:
- Utilize GIS and other geospatial tools to analyze and present land use data.
- Collaborate with the Alberta Geo-spatial Unit and Public Lands staff to maintain accurate and comprehensive land records.

Qualifications
- Two (2) year technical diploma in a related field, such as environmental science, agriculture, or GIS Tech, plus
- Two (2) years related experience in areas such as Environmental or Land Services, GIS experience or related.
Assets:
- Experience using GIS to support land or infrastructure-related spatial analysis.
- Experience or familiarity with land management, environmental stewardship, or agriculture contexts relevant to water management infrastructure.
- Exposure to civil construction activities or proposals where land management or infrastructure protection considerations apply.
- General understanding of government legislation, policy, and administrative processes.
- Alberta Land Use Planning Certificate (ALUP), Land Agent Licensing or similar.

Position Information:
- Office is located in Provincial Building (Lethbridge), 200 - 5 Avenue S., Lethbridge, AB T1J 4L1.
- Full time temporary position ending around May 4, 2027.
- Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week.
- Monday to Friday (8:15 to 4:30 pm).
