There is an excellent wage opportunity for a Cook at our Sifton centre who will be reporting to the Program Supervisor.

The following locations are in need of on-call wage Cook employee to provide a safe and therapeutic environment for youth. On call, casual wage support staff must have the ability to work shiftwork and weekends as required:
Lethbridge – Sifton
As a Cook you will you are part of a fast paced environment where you are responsible for: food preparation; planning ((birthdays, discharge parties, holiday meals, etc.), budgeting and ordering food and household supplies; completion of food/supply inventories; ensuring safety and cleanliness of the work area; assisting the child care staff in establishing standards pertaining to cleanliness, chores, laundry and other client living skills; the instruction of basic life skills to clients, supervise clients and function as a role model for them.
You will be accountable for the daily delivery of safe, fresh, consistent, nutritious and visually appealing food to the Lethbridge – Sifton clients - Cooking meals for up to 30 people. Using your strong knowledge of the culinary arts and your ability to follow rules and guidelines, you would be expected to carry out your responsibilities within a standard set of kitchen policies and procedures as well as industry practices. The challenge you will face in this position is to provide services as required within a highly dynamic working environment. Ability to supervise and work with youth in the kitchen.
Qualifications
Requirements: A Journeyman level cook certification is required. Experience in food service including food preparation for large groups, sanitation procedures and the knowledge and ability to prepare and provide meals based on the Canada Food Guide is required. Knowledge of City of Lethbridge’s Health Inspector requirements. Experience working with emotionally troubled adolescents and the ability to supervise, instruct and apply appropriate safety requirements for the clients is an asset.
Candidates should also possess good communication and observation skills, the ability to work independently with little supervision, and skills in the use and care of household equipment and materials. Candidates must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs. Standard First Aid Certificate is required.

Salary
$20.70 to $24.95 per hour
Notes
This is a casual on-call wage opportunity, there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements may vary from per week. Employees are expected to be available a minimum number of shifts per week.
Final candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening including: an academic credential check, Intervention Record check, proof of valid driver’s license and provide a suitable security screening (Criminal Record check with vulnerable sector), A completed CRC with VS within 6 months at time of application is acceptable. Additional pre-employments may be required dependent on location: medical, drivers abstract.
Successful candidates must be prepared to complete and maintain training in Standard First Aid with CPR, suicide intervention, high-risk de-escalation and Indigenous cultural understanding.
