The Trade, Investment and Food Safety (TIFS) Division expands and diversifies Alberta’s food and bio-product manufacturing sector in local and global markets while also providing effective food safety assurance systems.
Food and Bio-Processing Branch (FBPB) provides scientific and technical expertise, business development services and specialized facilities to support product/process development, scale up and commercialization of food and non-food products for companies serving local, national and global markets.

The Alberta Food Centre is a dynamic organization dedicated to advancing innovation and excellence in food science and development. As a key player in the industry, we work collaboratively with internal teams, industry partners, and government entities to drive continuous improvement, support client projects, and promote effective communication within the Food and Bio Processing Branch.
Reporting to the Manager, Business Development, the Alberta Food Centre Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the Alberta Food Centre's portfolio of interim processing clients onboarding requirements and identifying ongoing continuous improvement for interim processing operations for increased booking efficiencies.The position leads the Branch's promotion and communication plan for the Alberta Food Centre and the Bio Processing Innovation Centre including development and distribution of the monthly newsletter, coordination of in-person workshops, special events and industry tours, and the creation of videos and promotional materials. This position is responsible for leading the collection of client information related to program evaluation and analysis which is used by management team for decision making and area reporting.
As the Alberta Food Centre Project Coordinator, you will:
Coordinate Internal Effectiveness and Client Support Projects:
- Coordinate the Alberta Food Centre's portfolio of interim processing clients onboarding requirements.
- Lead and coordinate internal effectiveness and continuous improvement projects identified by management and staff, utilizing project management tools and techniques.
- Contribute to continuous improvement ideas through ongoing assessment of section processes and client feedback.
Lead Communication and Promotion Activities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Branch's communication plan for effective information distribution to team members and stakeholders.
- Act as the editor for the monthly Food News newsletter.
- Assist with promotional and technical transfer activities, including workshops, conferences, and seminars.
- Utilize creative approaches to develop informational and promotional materials.
Support Program Delivery and Reporting:
- Facilitate the development of the Food and Bio Processing Branch's operational plan measures reporting.
- Support the Branch's contribution to policy capacity initiatives, including the Red Tape Reduction (RTR) initiative.
- Assist in responding to action requests through the ARTS system.
- Provide ongoing communication and updates to the Director with a focus on continuous improvement and risk mitigation.

Qualifications
Minimum Recruitment Standard for Program Services 3 Market Adjustment Classification:University graduation in a related field plus four (4) years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.
Equivalencies: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Additional Requirements:
- Experience in project management, communications or marketing.
Preference will be given to those with knowledge and experience in agriculture or agri-food processing.
Assets:
- Understanding of agriculture and/or food processing sectors.
