The Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Services has significant oversight and involvement in the public security and emergency services through its various divisions and operations. The department is responsible for the administration of law enforcement, correctional services, policing and police oversight and public safety. The Ministry supports crime prevention and restorative justice programs, as well as programs and services to support victims of crime, including those affected by domestic violence and human trafficking. The Ministry also coordinates large scale emergency and disaster prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery programs and initiatives.

Role Responsibilities

In this position you will provide senior administrative support services to the Community Corrections Office, including the office Manager, Senior Probation Officers, Probation Officers and the office administrative team where applicable. You will also be responsible for coordinating the daily administrative operations of the office, which includes reception, payroll, inventory control, data entry, on site computer and IT coordination, records management, as well as handling sensitive and confidential information of both staff and clients and other complex work. You may be responsible for supervising and providing leadership and training to other subordinate administrative staff, depending on location.
For this role, we are looking for a collaborative, agile, solution focused individual with strong communication skills and someone who is customer service orientated with
strong administrative skills including a working knowledge of software applications. This position requires strong communication skills, supervisory skills, and considerable organizational abilities in order to multi-task and have the ability to deal with changing priorities. Position requires independence and decision-making skills for handling of day to day administrative requirements, referring only circumstances of an unusual nature to their supervisor.

Qualifications
Requirements:
High School Diploma and three years of related experience in Office Management, Administrative Supervision, Operations Administration etc.
Equivalencies: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
Required:
- proficiency with a variety of office equipment, computer programs - Word, Excel, and Outlook etc.
- excellent keyboarding, data entry and communication skills (both written and verbal)
Experience working with the government database systems such as ORCA, JOIN, CReF, 1GX, Bernie or similar will be considered as an asset.
A valid Alberta Driver’s license is required for this position.
