The Strategy and Governance Division at the Ministry of Environment and Protected Areas is looking for a highly motivated individual to be a part of our team! We are looking to fill one full time permanent position.
Role Responsibilities
This position provides a wide variety of administrative functions focusing on integrated delivery for all program streams. Areas of responsibility include fisheries and wildlife, air and water, contaminated sites, emergency response and management, regulatory approvals and compliance, public lands and rangeland management. This role will work collaboratively with the administrative team and play a significant role as a front-line contact, as well as meeting and greeting Albertans, displaying a sound knowledge of departmental procedures and processes, issuing licensing permits, and assisting clients.
The ideal candidate will have considerable experience working with internal and external clients, working with regional and branch staff, liaising between clients, contractors, corporate, and other departmental staff, to meet operational needs while maintaining working relationships. Previous experience working with high volume payroll will be considered an asset for this role. The successful candidate will showcase excellent communication and listening skills, the ability to solve problems and adjust to changing environments will be fundamental to the role.
Qualifications
• High school diploma and a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Processing high volumes of payroll.
• A good understanding of general office procedures and the Government of Alberta structure to direct queries and respond to requests.
• Working knowledge of various programs such as GRMS, CARS, ARTS, LSAS, GLIMPS, EMS, ENFOR and additional electronic filings systems as required.
• Ability to maintain a good filing system, easily accessible by staff and auditors.
• Knowledge of financial processes to process accounts payable and revenue transactions.
• Class 5 Driver’s license (preferred).

Notes
Work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:15am – 4:30pm, 36.25 hours per week.
Position is an in-office role and requires incumbent to report in-person (remote work will not be offered.)
