Salary:
​$1,775.28 to $2,246.29 bi-weekly ($46,334 - $58,628 per year). 

The Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Services has significant oversight and involvement in the public security and emergency services through its various divisions and operations. The department is responsible for the administration of law enforcement, correctional services, policing and police oversight and public safety. The Ministry supports crime prevention and restorative justice programs, as well as programs and services to support victims of crime, including those affected by domestic violence and human trafficking. The Ministry also coordinates large scale emergency and disaster prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery programs and initiatives.

Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Operational Services Supervisor, you will maintain the inmate stores and be responsible for receipt, storage and issuance of inmate’s personal effects and recovery of clothing, bedding, toiletries, and other personal items from inmates.  Other responsibilities include laundry operation and clothing change.  May be required to provide cover-off and cross train in warehouse area with a variety of different roles.  A sound knowledge of government policy and regulation is required for this position as well as possessing knowledge and experience in Data Entry Systems.  

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Receiving, verifying and processing all inmate monies and forwards to inmate accounts.  
  • Receiving inmate personal clothing and property and transfers from other Centres and ensures safe storage.  
  • Preparing all releases, courts, and transfers as required and ensures all property and documentation match.
  • Completing documentation in regards to the receipt, release, transfers and issuing inmate clothing and property.  
  • Searching inmate property for contraband.  
  • Tracing missing property from other Centres.  
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Direct contact with inmates in a secure setting
  • Valid Class 5 drivers License

Qualifications

Required:
Some high school education and six months of related experience; or equivalent as described below.

Equivalency
Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of one (1) year of related education for one (1) year of experience; or one (1) year of experience for one (1) year of related education.


A valid driver`s license is required for this position as the successful candidate will be required to operate a Government of Alberta vehicle.

Notes

This posting will be used to fill one permanent full-time position at the Fort Saskatchewan Correctional Centre.

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week 

Location: Fort Saskatchewan Correctional Centre - 7802 101 St, Fort Saskatchewan, AB T8L 4E6. There is no public transportation to the Centre and the successful Candidate is required to have access to reliable transportation. Free parking is available.
