Fort McMurray District is apart of the North Region. One of the larger communities of the area is Fort McMurray and Anzac, Alberta. This district includes: Gregoire Lake Provincial Park Hangingstone Provincial Recreation Area, Crow Lake Provincial Recreation Area and Maqua Lake Provincial Recreation Area.
The Fort McMurray district is looking for a motivated, courteous and hardworking individual with exceptional customer service skills to fill the Seasonal District Support position for Gregoire Lake Provincial Park.

Role
The Seasonal District Support position includes a combination of duties. This position's primary purpose is to oversee the Information Officers who provide front-line contact for Alberta Parks. The responsibilities will include creating a positive, productive environment for Information Officers and assisting with the day-to-day booth operations as needed.
This is a front-line customer service role that focuses on higher level administrative and leadership tasks, such as scheduling, staff training, inventory management, revenue tracking and reconciliation, and various administrative duties required to assist the Area/Parks Business Administrator. This position will additionally be required to provide front-line customer service at the registration booths when necessary.
Responsibilities
Supervision and Leadership:
- Be a positive role model that acts as a guide for Information Officers (IOs) throughout the season.
- Ensure Information Officers (IOs) receive appropriate training for booth operations, reservation system and GOA policies, procedures and directives.
- Teach, provide feedback, and encourage teamwork.
- Assist with staff scheduling, timesheets and day-to-day tasks.
- Foster effective group work to complete daily tasks and offer exceptional customer service.
- Work with their supervisor and other department leads to maintain open communication and act as the key representative for the Campground Registration Booth.
Administrative Duties:
- Learn and adhere to all pertinent policies, procedures and protocols including campground rules and regulations and GOA directives.
- Respond to in-person and telephone requests for information on area amenities and recreational activities within the Park.
- Advise public of various rules, policies and regulations that apply within a Provincial Park.
- Stay up-to-date on relevant activities, opportunities, and conditions (trails, water, fishing, etc.) to provide to the public.
- Learn emergency protocols to provide support to visitors and staff in an emergency situation.
- Reconcile revenue and track in an Excel workbook.
- Completing bank deposits and exchanging money for booth floats.
- Assisting supervisor with cash out discrepancies.
- General office duties.
Booth Operations:
- Proficiency with Reserve Alberta Parks (RAP) software and functions to register campers, update visitor information, and process payments or refunds using the system.
- Proficiency with ASPIRA software and functions to operate cash register and point of sale machine.
- Daily opening and closing tasks, ensuring booth locations are kept clean, organized, secure, and safe at all times.
- Retail sales of product and services which include: firewood, concession items, ice and ice cream (where applicable).
- Complete daily cash-outs.
- Troubleshoot issues on-site as needed.
- Verify inventory and retail stocking.
- May include others duties as assigned per supervisor.
Customer Service & Communication:
- Provide exceptional customer service as the first point of contact for day users and overnight campers.
- Receive and appropriately deal with public comments and complaints.
- Work closely with the Information Officers to ensure shared duties/tasks are completed.
- Assisting and working closely with other parks program streams as required.
- Maintain open communication with other program streams to ensure visitors’ needs are met.
- Gain familiarity with the natural history of the area to answer inquiries from visitors.
- Ensure booth hours of operation are communicated to visitors and the booth is open during scheduled hours.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- 1 year of related experience, with preference for supervisory or leadership experience and customer service experience
Additional Requirements:
- A Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
- Drivers Abstract
- Defensive Driving Certificate
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and holiday shifts
The successful candidate will be asked to provide a Criminal Record Check
Assets:
- Current Standard First Aid or CPR-C certification
- Customer Service experience
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Publisher)
- Retail experience and familiarity with point of sales machines, and cash handling
- Knowledge of Alberta Parks and direct experience with Reserve.Alberta.Parks.ca
- Familiarity with campground operations, park regulations, campground etiquette and surrounding Park amenities.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.

Salary
$21.62 – $26.42 per hour
Shift Differential Premiums are available at the following rates:
$3.25/hour weekend premium
$2.75/hour evening premium
Wage employees receive 11.2% in addition to regular wage earnings in lieu of benefits and vacation leave.
- 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
- 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay
Wage employees may be entitled to the Fort McMurray Allowance for $478.18 bi-weekly.
Notes
This posting will be used to fill one District Support Position.
- This is a seasonal wage opportunity starting at the beginning of April and going until end of October.
- Hours of work will consist of 40 hour work weeks with 8 hour shifts. This position will be required to work on evenings, weekends and holidays throughout the duration of the summer.
