Safe, Fair and Healthy Workplaces Division

Business Integration Branch
Business Integration (BI) acts as a centre of excellence in the provision of a wide array of training and development, regulatory review and quality assurance, and operational/administrative functions across Safe, Fair and Healthy Workplaces (SFHW) in support of the delivery of Alberta’s labour programs.

Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Provincial Operations, this position provides mentorship advice and support for administrative and operational processes for the Safe, Fair and Healthy workplaces division as well as Business Integration (BI). This includes the overall coordination of activities relating to budget, fleet management, contract administration, facilities management, capital project support, human resource support, operational planning, and systems administration. This involves developing administrative processes and systems to increase branch efficiency along with recommending and implementing program policy changes in accordance with divisional and ministry business plans. The position is the primary contact with Finance, Service Alberta Fleet Management, Human Resources and Accommodations.
The Provincial Operations Coordinator recommends, interprets, and communicates administrative policies and procedures to ensure compliance and consistent application of acts, regulations, and procedures related to administrative programs. The position develops timely and valid information, analyzes reports and schedules, and prepares monthly and year-end financial reports. This position works with a great deal of autonomy, and issues are only escalated once most options are exhausted. The position also provides advice and guidance to divisional business managers and administrative staff.

Qualifications
High school education or equivalent as described.
Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of: one year of experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.
The position requires the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- An ability to evaluate, articulate and control financial implications and forecast budgetary changes.
- Understanding of Ministry business and operational plans.
- Resourceful, with exceptional organization skills, combined with strong time management skills.
- Solid computer skills (Excel, Windows etc.). Must have an ability to design and manipulate comprehensive spreadsheet information.
- Exemplary written and oral communication skills.
- General knowledge of information technologies.
- Self-motivated with an ability to work in a dynamic environment with little supervision.
- Ability to multi-task without losing track of priorities.
- Adept in identifying and managing change.
Assets:
- One-year certificate in a related field and two years of related experience
- Knowledge of government budgeting and accounting policies and procedures and an ability to carefully analyze, rationalize and forecast comprehensive budgetary information.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Financial Administration Act, Government Organizational Act, Public Service Act, Code of Conduct and Ethics, Government Accountability Act, etc.
- Knowledge of contract administration.
- Broad knowledge of government policies and procedures with respect to Human Resource Issues, collective agreements and various benefits packages.

Notes
We are currently hiring for one full time, temporary position. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (36.25 hours/week).
Work location is in any location with GoA office within Alberta.
