Role Responsibilities

As the Planning Coordinator for the Police Review Commission (PRC), your expertise in coordination, analysis, and problem-solving will directly impact the agency’s success. Reporting to the Manager of Organizational Development, you will oversee procurement, reporting, and project activities while supporting the development of critical documents such as the three-year strategic plan and annual report.

Key areas that will make you successful in this role:

Coordination – Manage procurement activities, new office space coordination, and contract tracking to keep the PRC equipped and running smoothly.
Information Analysis – Research, analyze, and present insights to guide agency decisions and respond to emerging issues.
Project Support – Facilitate meetings, track progress, and align projects with leadership priorities.
Content Development – Contribute to the development of the strategic plan and annual report, ensuring clarity and transparency in communication.
Leadership – Champion equity, diversity, and inclusion, while delivering high-quality work that supports PRC’s strategic goals.

In this role, you will play a key part in shaping the implementation and future priorities of the PRC while navigating sensitive and complex issues. Your contributions will help establish the PRC as a leader in police oversight in Alberta.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field; no experience required; or equivalent as described below
  • Directly related education or experience will be considered on the basis of:
    • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
    • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.


The following will be considered assets:

  • Experience writing for a variety of audiences.
  • Experience preparing information and decision materials.
  • Experience in procurement coordination or project coordination


Technical Competencies:

  • Experience in research and data analysis, including summarizing findings and presenting to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and procurement processes to support coordination of tasks.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to engage with stakeholders and present information effectively.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
