Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Mobility Manager at Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL), the Technical Specialist provides specialized knowledge and business information to management and staff of the AADL Program, authorizers who prescribe equipment on behalf of the program, and suppliers who sell products to the program. The Technical specialist promotes and administers the policies of the program maintaining a client focus within the competitive Durable Medical Equipment (DME) industry in addition to the following responsibilities below;
• Assist with overall inventory management, evaluating products, travelling to conduct on-site facility inspections and vendor information sessions, providing product information to support decisions on disposition of program inventory, providing technical expertise, placing orders for adult power mobility equipment, and maintaining product knowledge.
• Application of Rehabilitation Engineering Society of North America (RESNA) standards enhances the management of the recycle pool and program resources within the province.
• Determine which products are appropriate for program purchase, maintain extensive product knowledge of both current and past products, determination of value, life expectancy and disposition, in order to promote effective use of the recycle pool.
• Allocation of inventories throughout the province. This includes physical verification of products, parts and status reports or condition. Assist with repair processing/collection/disposal activities to maintain and enhance the inventory pool.
• Support program functions, within current legislation, including requests for specialized products or features, review applications for power mobility and completion of orders for successful applicants, provide training and updates to program staff in keeping with changes in the industry. Assist with e-business planning.
• Provide technical expertise to therapists within current policies and procedures and with extensive technical knowledge to facilitate meeting client needs.
• Review and monitor adherence to program policy with approved program vendors, with regards to facilities, recycle activities, and program owned products and parts within Program policies and procedures.
• Assist with planning functions regarding program policy, directives, business flow, and computer system redevelopment to achieve efficiencies within the Program.

Qualifications
Two-year diploma in a related field plus five years progressively responsible related experience.
Equivalency: Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of: one year of experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.

Requirements:
• Knowledge of products from numerous manufacturers and distributors of DME product, includes specific manufacturer training courses as offered.
• Knowledge of health legislation having an impact on the supply of DME products within Alberta, and knowledge of other similar programs within Canada.
• Broad-based background on policies and procedures of the AADL Program, with training equivalent to a program-approved Authorizer.
• Ability to assist with teaching AADL Large Equipment Module for new Authorizers.
• Microsoft Office capabilities and Mainframe program knowledge and application.
• Knowledge on application of applied RESNA standards.
• RESNA credentials for Assistive Technology Suppliers (ATS).
• Broad-based knowledge of materials and design/testing methods applied to such materials.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, and project management skills.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills combined with good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
• Superior interpersonal skills with an emphasis on client service and teamwork.
• Conflict resolution skills.

Notes
This competition will be used to staff ONE (1) Full time Permanent position.
Hours of Work:
7.25 hours daily/ 36.25 hours weekly, Monday to Friday
Location:
ATB Place North, 10025 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta. This position requires working from the office with an option to qualify for a hybrid work arrangement (in accordance with GOA policy).
