Elections Alberta is an independent, non-partisan office of the Legislature. Elections Alberta is responsible for administering provincial elections, by-elections and referenda. Role Responsibilities

Do you enjoy solving problems with limited information, finding needles in haystacks, and like a challenge? You may be the Systems Analyst that we are looking for. Reporting to the Development Lead, you will develop and maintain high quality applications to enhance Elections Alberta’s web services to various stakeholders. Using your interpersonal skills and commitment to providing excellent client services, you will actively partner with internal teams to create and prioritize the product roadmap. You will deliver full-stack development projects focused on the mission and mandate of Elections Alberta.

 

The ideal candidate can:

  • Design & build Microsoft SQL databases that meet the long-term needs of the system
  • Work on data transformation, automated data scraping and data matching, and data repositories without getting confused
  • Understand and improve / modernize legacy systems
  • Build functional and user-friendly interfaces for optimal user experiences
  • Work independently and as part of a team for concurrent projects with competing priorities

Qualifications

  • A university degree in computer science or a related discipline plus two years related experience; or a two-year diploma in computer technology or a related discipline plus four years related experience.
  • Organizational skills to respond to varied staff needs and effectively prioritize daily workload, coupled with a strong commitment to client services.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups with varying degrees of systems expertise, to assist in diagnosing and resolving problems identified.
  • Strong working knowledge of the following: 
    • Visual Studio (C#, .Net Framework, .Net Core)
    • Web API principles
    • Relational databases (Microsoft SQL)
    • DevOps / GIT
    • Java, HTML5, CSS
    • Modern software development lifecycle
    • Agile principles
