The Strategy, Support & Integrated Initiatives (SSII) division provides strategic and integrated support for PSES divisional services and ministerial priority initiatives. The Modernization, IMT, and Research branch provides rigorous, high-quality data, research, and evaluation services to support evidence-based decision making within the public safety system. The work of the branch significantly contributes to the Government of Alberta's commitment to public accountability and transparency.

Role Responsibilities

The Senior Reporting Analyst plays a key role in transforming complex data into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership. Reporting to the Manager, Business and Strategic Reporting, you’ll be responsible for designing, developing, implementing and maintaining reporting products and solutions to meet divisional and departmental needs. The position requires experience in data analysis, statistics, data visualization and report writing. The incumbent is expected to be adept at quickly understanding organizational goals and linking them to data to produce analytical products that inform decision-making, policy and operations.

Key responsibilities include:

Ministry and Divisional Performance Reporting
Develop and coordinate PSES performance indicator dashboards.
Facilitate planning sessions with divisions and business areas.
Recommend performance indicators and interpret statistical trends.
Prepare executive-ready materials, including briefings, Q&A documents, and speaking notes.
Finalize and distribute dashboard products to program areas and senior leadership.

Build High-Impact Data Products
Create dashboards and interactive reports (SAS VA, Power BI, Excel).
Capture evolving reporting needs and refine products accordingly.
Develop documentation, training, and change management materials.
Support KPI monitoring and performance measurement.

Advance Research & Evaluation
Apply advanced statistical analysis and experimental design.
Translate findings into clear insights for leadership.
Respond to internal and external data requests.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
University graduation in Social Science, mathematics, statistics or related field: 
PLUS a minimum of 4 years analyzing and interpreting both quantitative and qualitative data.

Directly related education or experience will be considered on the basis of: 

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

 Assets:

  • Skilled with multi disciplinary datasets and tools like SAS VA, Power BI, and Excel 
  • Understanding of how the criminal justice system is structured and operates.
  • Experience creating reports, briefings, presentations, and translating technical information for diverse audiences
  • Strong facilitation, consultation, and project management abilities
