Role

 

Reporting to the Manager, Continuous Improvement, the Senior Continuous Improvement Specialist will function as an internal consultant and business improvement expert for the Ministry and Policy and Strategic Initiatives Branch in evaluation, planning and implementing improvements in process and practices; and facilitating and coaching improvement teams within work units.

The Senior Continuous Improvement Specialist also plays a key role in the following areas:

  • Identifying and documenting key business drivers, strategies and requirements that affect service delivery.
  • Identifying process improvement options and supporting the design of future state processes.
  • Supporting the implementation of project management principles by developing strategies, work plans, project schedules, estimates and implementation plans
  • Developing and implementing quality management systems through process innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Managing projects and providing change management leadership in the analysis of business requirements in order to develop business solutions to meet the business needs.
  • Providing consultation and advisory services and business and process improvement expertise to enable continuous improvement of business processes.

Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Business, Economics, Social Science, or related discipline with 4 years progressively responsible related experience in project management and / or business analysis. 2 years of Lean Six Sigma process improvement projects required.

Equivalent as described below.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.


Knowledge / Skills

  • Experience in relationship management and business analysis.
  • Green Belt Level Lean Six Sigma trained and / or certified.
  • Understanding of how to effectively couple change management and project management to create awareness and desire for the change, along with the ability to successfully implement and sustain change.
  • Knowledge and experience with process improvement methodologies and established process analysis and improvement tools; and Process Improvement and Statistical Process Control methodologies.
  • Knowledge of business processes, concepts, flow-charting, data modeling, and the ability to interpret the technical requirements.
  • Knowledge of tools and techniques to plan, elicit, analyze, document and manage business requirements.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings when planning and eliciting, analyzing, validating and managing business requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, including ability to present and articulate complex concepts and write logical, well thought through documents in a clear and concise manner.
  • Experience or working knowledge of relevant software, (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, SharePoint, Outlook, RAP etc)
  • Understanding of relevant information systems, (e.g. FAMIS, BLIMS, etc.)


Assets:

  • 4 years of project management experience.
  • Black Belt trained and Certified preferred.
  • Understanding of government strategic and policy directions and priorities as they relate to the Ministry.

Salary

 

$2,716.64 - $3,550.90 bi-weekly ($70,904 - $92,678 / year)

A salary review is in progress and may result in this salary being increased on September 1, 2023

Notes

 

Hours of work:
36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.15 am to 4.30 pm

Hybrid Policy

This position works out of the Neil Crawford Provincial Centre (6950 -113 Street) with close access to the South Campus LRT station and parking.
