Within the Education Supports Sector, the Student Records Branch provides supports for programs and services that impact the education of students. This includes leadership and support to school authorities to address chronic absenteeism, supports for students from low incidence populations (blindness or visual impairment, deafness or hard of hearing, deaf blindness and complex communication needs), and in administrative or dispute resolution requirements with school authorities.

Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the position is responsible for leading the project management and operational planning for the branch. The role will develop and lead projects, support communications, and coordinate and lead planning and reporting functions.  
 

  • The Senior Strategic Program Analyst is a key to the unit’s project management and planning functions and must be able to determine if policy and practices align with government direction while considering feedback from stakeholders to determine where operational changes are required.
  • Must be able to develop plans and anticipate contingencies and the implications.  
  • Lead operational planning for SRO and all tracking and reporting functions.
  • Reviews program frameworks, including identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and increasing the value these programs add to the department. 
  • Uses strong project management skills to plan the process, solicit input from leadership on the branch and sector requirements, engage with and advise the business areas, and work collaboratively with the department to develop plans and confirm priorities. 
  • Create project charters, lead projects, and provide all project management elements for SRO and the sector as required. 
  • Provide leadership and guidance on privacy inquiries.
  • Coordinates and drafts responses to requests for information including Action Request documents such as briefing notes, letters, and emails as well as additional ad hoc requests from department and government colleagues as well as stakeholders.

Qualifications

University graduation in a related field like Business, Arts, Project Management plus four years of progressive experience including is required; or equivalent as described below.

 

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience is considered on the basis of one year of education for one year of experience or one year of experience for one year of education.

 

Assets: 

  • Experience with project management and operational/strategic planning.
  • Project Management Professional Certificate.
  • Experience with application systems, problem management, change management and production control practices, process, and procedures.
  • Ability to handle pressure and work on multiple projects with demanding timelines.

Notes

There is one temporary (12 months) full-time position working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
