The Automobile Insurance Rate Board was established by legislation to regulate the pricing of automobile insurance in Alberta, as an independent agency reporting to the President of Treasury Board and Minister of Finance. Join us at the Automobile Insurance Rate Board (AIRB) as a Social Media & Communication Advisor and play a vital role in educating Alberta’s drivers about automobile insurance. The Social Media & Communication Advisor is at the heart of AIRB’s public engagement initiatives, tasked with developing dynamic social media content that informs and empowers Alberta’s 3.5 million drivers. In this role, you will create and manage text, image, and video content across AIRB’s social platforms, driving awareness about essential driver education resources. Reporting to the Policy and Communications Advisor, you’ll be integral to shaping AIRB’s public image, crafting messages that reflect the Board’s mission to educate and support Alberta’s insurance consumers.

 

Roles and responsibilities include:

 

  • Content Creation & Strategy: Design and implement creative content that resonates with diverse audiences across AIRB’s social media channels, including original text, graphics, and video materials focused on auto insurance education.
  • Engagement Monitoring: Use key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor, track, and report on engagement metrics, helping to refine and optimize future content.
  • Content Calendar Management: Develop and maintain an editorial calendar, ensuring timely, relevant, and consistent communication across all channels.
  • Community Engagement: Actively moderate social channels to gather user feedback, respond to inquiries, and identify topics for future content, nurturing a supportive online community.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to create presentations, key messages, and blog content that communicate AIRB’s driver education initiatives to a wide range of audiences.
  • Trend Analysis: Monitor industry trends and social media performance, contributing insights to adjust content strategies and address emerging topics that impact Alberta drivers.

Qualifications

University graduation in a relevant field such as Marketing, communications, or related field. Experience in public and/or private sector environments is considered an asset.

 

Assets:

 

  • Demonstrated communication, English language, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in the areas of multimedia and web design, and digital media applications, preferred.
  • Ability to build relationships and deal effectively with internal stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Appreciation for engaging internal communication strategies and the need for different approaches to communications.
  • Ability to analyze information, summarize and synthesize feedback and make recommendations based on findings.

 

Equivalencies may be considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Salary

$2,345.14 to $3,076.28 bi-weekly ($61,208 - $80,290 per year)

Notes

This is a permanent, full-time position working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

 

This position is located in the AIRB Office, Canadian Western Bank Place (3000, 10303 Jasper Avenue) in Edmonton. 

 

Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary. This competition may be used to fill future roles at the same or lower classifications.
