Alberta King’s Printer is responsible for publishing, marketing and distributing the Government of Alberta's laws, the Alberta Gazette, and various legislation-related and official materials in various formats.

This position ensures all relevant Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction legislation, business plans, policies, and standards are recognized and complied with, and may provide input to the development of new and revised policies and processes in regards to inventory control and shipping of materials.

Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Customer Service and Distribution Team Lead, the Shipping and Inventory Coordinator is responsible for the accurate shipping and receiving of products, tracking shipments of orders, distribution of departmental mail, organization of stock, cyclic inventory counts and reconciliation of all materials, general warehouse duties, and answering client inquiries over the phone e-mail or in person as required.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Accurately picking and shipping all orders with 24-48 hours of receipt or within established service level time frames.
  • Maintaining and updating 'Shipping Manager' database for details about every shipment (way bill numbers, number or parcels, date shipped, serialized ranges and special instructions etc.).
  • Coordinating the bulk distribution of orders as required.
  • Receiving stock, verifying quantities received and providing packing slips and copies of the materials to the Customer Service and Distribution Team Lead for receiving within 24 hours of receipt of product being delivered.
  • Inventory Management and Warehouse Organization as well as warehouse management.
  • Safely operating a Reach Truck Forklift when required.


You will need to be able to:

  • Resolve investigations and inventory discrepancies.
  • Supervise logistics to ensure that most economical method of distribution is used for each shipment.
  • Ensure the terms of Service Level Agreements (SLA) are fulfilled in accordance with client requirements.
  • Manage rush requests and emergency orders with short time frames and 100% accuracy to ensure that the correct product is delivered to the client within a specified time frame.

  • The capacity to function independently and contribute collaboratively and effectively within a team environment with minimal supervision including a high degree of personal accountability and professionalism.

  • Ability to multitask and organize conflicting priorities with competing deadlines.

Qualifications

Requirements: 

  • High school education.
  • One year of shipping and inventory control experience in a warehouse setting.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license or equivalent.
  • Ability to consistently lift boxes weighing up to 35 lbs.


Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education


The following will be considered assets:

  • Reach Truck Forklift training and certification
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Standards and working alone policies.
  • Experience with materials handling equipment safely (e.g. fork lifts, pallets, shrink-wrapper, strapping machines, etc.).

  • There is one full time permanent position available. This position reports 36.25 hours of work per week. This position must work in office full time and is not eligible for hybrid work.
