Role Responsibilities
Are you an instructional designer ready to lead the design, development, and delivery of innovative learning and e-Learning solutions that support the Government of Alberta’s Procurement Training Program?
The Senior Training Specialist is responsible for assessing training needs, developing learning/e-Learning materials, ensuring seamless integration with Learning Management Systems, and delivering engaging training sessions to support the delivery of procurement training to stakeholders across the organization.
The Senior Training Specialist will use sound design principles to identify, define and implement innovative learning strategies and solutions to modernize program delivery in alignment with organizational needs. This role will also work collaboratively with internal business partners and subject matter experts to help in the development, production, and delivery of learning solutions across instructor-led and e-Learning training programs.
Key requirements:
- Proven competence developing and implementing large-scale training and development programs, using multiple resources and tools.
- Expertise in designing, developing, testing and implementing e-Learning courses within an integrated Learning Management System.
- Expertise in collaborating on cross-functional teams to meet critical, time-sensitive deadlines and communicating to diverse audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and stakeholder relationship management skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner through learning/e-Learning mediums.
- Understanding of accessible design principles to accommodate different learning styles.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience in executing on systems training best practices.

Qualifications
Minimum Recruitment Standards
- University graduation in a related field such as Adult Education, Instructional Design, Business Administration and four (4) years progressively responsible related experience OR;
- A Diploma in a related field and a minimum six (6) years of progressively responsible work experience
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Required:
- Professional experience in learning and development/training program delivery.
- Advanced level proficiency with MS Office Tools, Learning Management Systems (LMS), Articulate Suite, Canva Pro, and other related training software to develop training resources such as Murph.AI.
- Experience with ERP systems and applications such as SAP, SuccessFactors, Ariba, Concur, OpenText.
Assets:
- Certification in Instructional Design.
- Solid understanding of the principles of adult education.
- Experience with video development and artificial intelligence tools within a training context.
- Experience with providing facilitation and program administration support for training delivery.
- Demonstrated knowledge of training needs analyses and competency development frameworks.
- Knowledge of procurement processes, and supply chain management concepts is advantageous.
