The Strategy, Support and Integrated Initiatives division provides strategic and integrated policy and project services and functions for Justice. Reporting to the Manager of Research and Evaluation, the Senior Research and Evaluation Analyst plays a critical role in advancing evidence-based decision-making within the ministry.
The team is dedicated to conducting research and evaluation that informs and strengthens the criminal, family, and civil justice systems in Alberta. By providing strategic insights and technical expertise, the team supports the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of programs, services, and initiatives across the ministry.
Key Responsibilities for this role will include:
- Conducting comprehensive studies and evaluations of Justice-related programs, services and initiatives.
- Developing logic models, theories of change, and evaluation/research frameworks tailored to justice initiatives.
- Providing expert consultation on research and evaluation to meet the ministry’s information needs.
- Engaging in capacity building activities to advance evaluation readiness and skills within the organization.
- Promoting knowledge translation by clearly and effectively communicating evaluation findings to diverse audiences.
- Utilizing a participatory approach to developing framework, tools, resources and reports that are practical, actionable, and impactful.

Qualifications
Requirements:
- University degree in Social Sciences, Public Administration, Education or related field.
- Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible experience supporting or leading program evaluation, applied research, or related fields.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Assets:
- Experience with evaluation principles and process, including but not limited to formative, summative, and developmental evaluation methodologies, evaluation frameworks, logic models, and theories of change.
- Experience with applied research methodology and practices including ethical guidelines, data collection and analysis, and reporting.
- Experience in both quantitative and qualitative analysis, including data visualization, using tools such as MS36 (Excel, Word, Visio), Power BI, NVivo, and online survey platforms.
- Experience preparing briefings and providing recommendations for senior management.
- Experience leading consultations with diverse groups (including Indigenous communities, organizational representatives, and subject matters experts).

- Full-time permanent position located in Edmonton at Oxbridge Place.
- Hours of work: 7.25 hours per day / 36.25 hours per week (Monday – Friday).
