Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction is the government’s solution provider and supports the significant events in Albertans’ lives, like having a child, getting married, mourning the loss of a loved one, getting a driver’s license, or buying a home.

Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Systems, Policy and Engagement, as the Senior Research, Policy and Planning Analyst, you will provide project leadership on a range of priorities for the Procurement Standards and Engagement Unit, including procurement policy, vendor engagement, systems modernization and branch/division-wide initiatives. This may include undertaking internal and external stakeholder engagement, delivering project management support/coordination, developing communications and change management supports and preparing ministerial correspondence, action request responses, briefing notes and presentation materials on behalf of the Unit.
Functioning as part of a highly collaborative team, you will contribute to policy, planning, environmental scanning and research and analysis frameworks that support decision-making for policies and programs implemented across the Government of Alberta. Key duties of this position will be varied, and you will use your agility and responsiveness to handle emerging responsibilities while demonstrating excellent time management skills.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- University graduation in a related field (such as public administration, business administration, public policy) plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience in policy analysis and development, project management, or similar.
- Equivalencies will be considered on a one-for-one basis (one year of related experience for one year of related education, or one year of related education for one year of related experience).
Experience or knowledge that will be considered an asset:
- Knowledge of procurement processes and supply chain management best practices.
- Policy development experience within a public sector environment.
- Experience with stakeholder management, including the development of communications and change management supports.
- Experience in research, analysis, and options development.
- Understanding of policy and program development and decision-making processes (preferably in the public sector).
- Working knowledge of Government of Alberta procurement policies, frameworks and Trade Agreement obligations (e.g., Procurement Accountability Framework, Treasury Board and Finance Sole Source Directive, etc.).
