The Red Tape Reduction (RTR) Branch is responsible for leading and coordinating efforts to reduce red tape across the Government of Alberta (GOA), including supporting stakeholder engagement activities.

Role Responsibilities
Are you ready to lead the delivery of government's red tape reduction (RTR) outcomes? If you’re passionate about improving the development of policies and regulations, we want to hear from you!
As the Senior Regulatory Excellence Officer, you will report to the Director, Strategic Engagement and Operations. You will support and advance strategic priorities in relation to the GOA red tape reduction mandate, along with key internal and external engagement activities.
You will have strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and proficiency in data interpretation and problem solving.
The responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Implement strategic and operational priority activities aligned with the Ministry's mandate to lead the delivery of government's RTR outcomes.
- Lead the development of innovative policies (codes, guidelines, and other tools) that guide regulatory excellence across government.
- Evaluate the outcomes of programs and processes designed to support regulatory excellence and red tape reduction across the Government of Alberta.
- Development of RTR legislation, and annual reporting.
- Coordinate content for engagement initiatives Red Tape Reduction Branch undertakes with internal and external stakeholders.
- Summarize complex concepts in an easily understood manner and make recommendations on findings.

In developing policy responses, this position must consider provincial and broader policy context and trends and how they affect Alberta's strategic interests, as well as the impact of current choices on future policy decisions.
Agility - This role takes a proactive view of engagement and reporting and how the work of the RTR impacts on cost savings for Albertans and Alberta businesses. The holder of the position needs to be comfortable with a high level of ambiguity in the work of the Branch recognizing that there are often not precedents to follow.
Drive for Results - This position requires agility in responding to requests and tasks in a changing environment that is not under the control or influence of the position. However, there are often established deadlines and requirements with expected results. The position has the responsible to conduct comparative analysis and research and the consideration of complex factors and identify individual ministry and provincial issues.
Creative Problem Solving - This position involves engagement of all GOA ministries along with their agencies, as well as Alberta's key economic industry sectors. Strong collaboration in this environment, as well as with external stakeholders is of critical importance to the position.

Qualifications
A University graduation in a related field (for example Public Administration, Economics, Business Administration, or any other related field), plus a minimum of 4 years progressively related experience needed for the job.
Equivalencies may be considered:
Master (related field) and a minimum two (2) years’ experience, Two Year Diploma (related field) and a minimum of six (6) years related experience, one year certificate in a related field and a minimum of seven (7) years related experience, No education, and a minimum of eight (8) years’ experience.
The following are considered assets for the role:
- Project management and program delivery experience from inception to completion, including program evaluation.
- Knowledge in research methodologies, data analysis, and program development
- Knowledge of Policy evaluation theory and practice.
- Program or policy research-oriented or related experience.
