1GX Center of Excellence (CoE) manages and oversees the performance of the Government of Alberta’s (GoA) enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, 1GX. The CoE has overall accountability for service delivery and associated contract and vendor relationship management. 1GX is the core ERP solution for GoA functional areas including human capital, supply chain, financial, and treasury management. 1GX CoE also provides strategic leadership for the ongoing enhancement and development of 1GX applications to meet the GoA’s evolving mission and continually changing business environment.

1GX ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) Program branch is looking for a Senior Project Manager. This position reports to the Manager, 1GX PMO Excellence.

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Developing and implementing project management standards, processes, and best practices to support 1GX PMO operations and enhance project delivery.
  • Providing leadership for large and complex 1GX projects, including defining scope, managing resources, monitoring progress, mitigating risks, and ensuring alignment with GoA policies and standards.
  • Offering expert advice and mentorship to management and junior team members, addressing escalated issues, drafting responses, and driving process improvements.
  • Engaging and collaborating with stakeholders, internal teams, and external partners to ensure business needs are met and impacts of decisions are effectively managed.
  • Coordinating project documentation, approvals, and transition processes, ensuring successful implementation and post-project reviews.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships through participation in committees, working groups, and cross-division collaborations to align and deliver on shared goals.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • University degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Finance, Technology or a related field. 
  • Four (4) years of related progressively responsible experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.



Equivalencies:

  • A related two-year diploma in a related field from a recognized postsecondary institution and six (6) years related experience; or
  • A related one-year certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution and seven (7) years related experience.
  • Eight (8) years of related experience.



Assets:

  • Experience supporting an Enterprise Resource Planning project such as SAP.
  • Experience supporting Human Capital Management, Supply Chain Management, and Financial and Treasury Management SAP projects.
  • Experience supporting other SAP projects such as Data Analytics, Information Lifecycle Management, and Vendor Invoice Management.

Term of Employment: Temporary, Full-time position    

Hours of Work: 7.25 hours daily / 36.25 weekly – Monday to Friday
