Role Responsibilities
Are you passionate about driving climate innovation and shaping Alberta’s clean technology landscape? Join the Climate Funding and Partnerships team as a Senior Program Analyst, where your analytical expertise and collaborative spirit will help implement the Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction (TIER) system, one of Alberta’s key climate initiatives.
In this dynamic role, you will be at the forefront of designing, delivering, and evaluating impactful programs that support clean technology and climate innovation across the province. You will work closely with internal teams, cross-ministry partners, and external stakeholders to ensure Alberta remains a leader in sustainable development.
Other responsibilities may include:
- Lead and Innovate: Spearhead the analysis, implementation, and evaluation of climate-related programs including grant funding initiatives that support clean technology and innovation.
- Scan and Strategize: Conduct jurisdictional scans to identify best practices and emerging trends in clean tech programming and adapt them to Alberta’s unique context.
- Collaborate across Boundaries: Partner with other ministries and organizations to co-develop programs that drive innovation and reduce emissions.
- Measure What Matters: Coordinate performance planning, measurement, and reporting for the TIER system to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Build Strong Systems: Design and maintain internal processes for tracking progress, documenting outcomes, and reporting results.
- Communicate with Impact: Prepare clear and compelling reports and presentations for executives, government officials, and the public.
- Leverage Technology: Use tools like Excel, SharePoint, and Word to organize and present complex data in accessible formats.
- Support and Strengthen: Contribute to fiscal planning, grant administration, and policy development to ensure program success and sustainability.

Qualifications
A completed university degree in public administration or a related field, plus four (4) years' progressively related experience (e.g., policy and program implementation and evaluation, synthesizing and analyzing strategic information).
- Equivalencies will be considered on the basis of: One year of related experience for one year of related education, OR one year of related education for one year of related experience.

- Performance and Evaluation Expertise: Understanding of performance management frameworks and evaluation methodologies to track and improve program outcomes.
- Data and Analytical Skills: Ability to source, analyze, and translate complex data into actionable insights for diverse audiences.
- Systems Thinking: Capacity to connect climate strategies, stakeholder perspectives, and regulatory frameworks in a meaningful way.
- Project and Organizational Skills: Proven ability to manage projects, meet timelines, and deliver results aligned with strategic goals.
- Digital Proficiency: Skilled in using tools like Excel, SharePoint, and Word to visualize and communicate data effectively.
- Collaborative Influence: Ability to foster engagement, build partnerships, and integrate performance approaches into program design.
- Policy and Political Acumen: Awareness of Government of Alberta climate programs, priorities, and the political environment in which they operate.
- Experience in written communications (preparing briefing notes, etc.) for various stakeholders.

This is a full-time temporary position (approximately 18 months), based in Edmonton, Alberta.
This position works Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM-4:30 PM, 36.25 hours a week.
