Seniors, Community and Social Services provides supports for seniors, families, and communities, and helps Albertans access disability services, continuing care, financial supports, affordable housing, services for the homeless, and other social-based programs. Role Responsibilities
Do you have experience with Indigenous protocol, grant program delivery, and the passion and drive to promote affordable housing initiatives? If so, the Housing Division may have the perfect role for you.
Reporting to the Director, Affordable and Non-Profit Housing, the Senior Program Advisor is the primary contact for initiatives associated with the provision of affordable housing options for off-reserve, on- and off-settlement Indigenous populations in the province. You will foster strong working relationships with Indigenous governments and organizations to establish and implement housing programs and capital projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing policy and program leadership for the Indigenous Housing Capital Program.
- Ensuring grant agreements are effectively managed to support the provision of affordable housing options in the province.
- Support non-profit housing operators in the delivery of affordable housing options in the province through research and analyses.
- Using political and cultural sensitivity to develop positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support and facilitate the provision of affordable housing options in the province.
- Assist the Director by providing input and recommendations relating to issues, opportunities, and challenges associated with housing programs and policies.
- Represent the IHCP program and Housing Division at public events, cross-ministry, government, and stakeholder teams, committees, and working groups, as required.

Qualifications
Minimum Recruitment Standards:
- University graduation (4 years) in a related field, such as Social Sciences, Indigenous Studies, and Business Administration, plus six (6) years progressively responsible related experience in Indigenous consultation/engagement or grant program management.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
This position requires travel to visit capital projects located around Alberta. A Class 5 driver’s license is required.
Assets:
- Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous history, culture, protocols, and governance.
- Experience in areas related to Alberta affordable housing system and housing systems in other provinces/territories.
- Experience working with/providing support and strategic advice to Indigenous governments/organizations on provincially-funded grant programs.
- Experience in management of capital projects.
